Screenshots (as long as they are png or reasonably compressed jpg) have always quite accurately shown me what a Blu-ray will look like in motion.
So how would you say they were accurate, colour nope, contrast nope, brightness nope, resolution nope need i go on?..............unless of course as i have said we know the source and they are viewed on an accurate display otherwise it is impossible to make a judgment using a screen grab.

If some of you take the time to read or even just look at the pictures in this excellent guide you might see what i am getting at:

Would you agree that the Twilight Time blu-ray release transfer has been darkened compaired to the dvd release and the release in the theatres?

And do you prefer the darkened look?

I think you make the issue out to be much more complicated than experience has demonstrated. Past history has shown from discussion threads on other Blu-ray movies dating back to some of the earliest titles that there are a credible group of screenshot scientists (I use that term affectionately) scattered throughout various forums and blogger sites on the internet who have always gotten it ‘correct’.

Frame grabs are the only objective means hobbyists have to illustrate on the internet what a particular Blu-ray movie really looks like because streaming the movie at a Blu-ray bitrate would be illegal….otherwise all we are left with are subjective anecdotal responses from viewers which I think potentially can be much more prone to error and bias than stills posted by people who have proven reliable in the past.

Totally agree, but again unless we know the source and they are being viewed on an accurate display how would most know colour for example is correct.

Well I hope they become available at some point, hell I never thought we would ever see the 7-10 disc Viva's ever to show up for purchase but they did.

Watching this again since I first got it last year. I hated it with a passion the first time but this time around I kinda don't mind the darker tone as much.

Give it a 2nd shot.

It still looks horrible, still hate it. Though undarkening and de-bluing the disc has made it much more watchable, almost as good as the DVD. Though I shouldn't have to remaster a bluray that was so expensive.

An utter piece of crap blu-ray if you ask me! i borrowed it from one of my friends and it had a bad transfer with that blue tone i don't recall seeing on video or DVD and no extras too, such a disappointment. I'm glad i didn't buy this horrible blu-ray, no one should own this hunk of junk and some day we'll get the proper blu-ray once Twilight's rights expire. I'll stick to my DVD.

Tom Savini said it was a good transfer, MY ASS IT IS! he was probably hoped up on dope.

The Director of Photography said the screen shots of the blu-ray looked terrible and he was not involved directly (no one at Sony bothered sending him a preview for his approval). They just went by his notes that mentioned the DVD was too bright.
