Twilight Time, a new company to rival Criterion.

And around, and around, and around, and around.

People really seem to have trouble with timelines here.

Sony preps transfer based on DP's notes. Sony shelves transfer.

Twilight Time expresses an interest. Sony says it was made in consultation with the DP.

Twilight Time acquires rights. Twilight Time releases disc.

Horror fans go batshit. I feel like I'm besmirching my own kind here, but the "righteous" fury was almost absurd. Or maybe it was just parasitic speculators angry that their "sure thing" wasn't panning out.

Even though TT offers an unconditional refund for everyone who's unsatisfied with the (opened) disc, even though it should be quite easy to actually make money on the disc by reselling it, even though they didn't prep the transfer themselves, TT is now Satan, etc., etc.

Now someone can reply that the next time TT releases a Sony transfer that's amazing, they are forbidden to mention the name TT in connection with said transfer, since they had nothing to do with it.

Then someone else can reply that their business model is fundamentally flawed. Why not 5000 or 10000?

Then yet another person can ask why Sony doesn't sell their titles to another company or release them themselves.

And around, and around.

Default Tom Savini says upgrade is okay

So last month I met Tom Savini at the Motor City Comic Con (he's a pretty cool guy, this was the second time I'm met him) and I took the time to ask him about what he thought of the blu-ray upgrade of his NOTLD. To sum it up, Mr. Savini thought it looked great and better than it's ever been. However, he did go on to say that he saw absolutely no difference in the color timing, which struck me as odd as it is pretty obvious that there has been a change. Either way, that's what the director says about the whole topic.

So to sum it up: Tom Savinis opinion means nothing.

Armchair experts can plainly see a difference in color timing, Tom Savini, the director of the film sees no difference.

Armchair experts opinion>>>Tom Savini's opinion

If Savini can honestly say he's sees no difference between this transfer and what the film looked like theatrically, then his opinion holds zero weight, Director or not.

I have not seen the film theatrically and would find it impossible to remember the original exact colour timing after all these years......but I have a feeling this is the look they were aiming for at the time.

PS
Tom has spoken twice (supposedly) get over it.

Tom Savini probably remembers the original film...and what they had to do to the print timing to mitigate the effects of noonday filming. According to the DP, previous video transfers weren't correct either. Too bright. Too colourful.

There is probably a happier medium, but doubtful we'll ever see it.

This is exactly how we feel and this is how we colored it, and this is now our preferred version to watch, the TT release is way to dark, the original release is way to bright and cheerful lol, but this happy medium looks just right, I was under the assumption everyone likes the brighter cheerful version only, well now I see there is someone out there that thinks like we do lol.

Well, What is Tom suppose to say? It looks awful? Don't buy it?

What he is saying and what he thinks are probably two different things.

Remember, we are dealing with people in the film industry, They care about one thing and one thing only.......______________________!!!

Tom probably just saying that it looks nice, and he doesn't mind the changes that were made. I'll bet anything that anyone who's never seen this movie before, would watch this BD and say the PQ looks real nice.....

Well said Sir. Maybe there could have been a halfway point for this film but me I like it for what it is and it looks very nice.

Given there's only roughly 3,000 copies out there, most fans of the movie have seen it before. Good thing I could edit the color timing much closer to the original myself, but I really shouldn't have to fix TTs mistake.
