I never saw this at theaters back in 1990 and even If I saw it, i probably would have not remembered it. I saw it a few times during the 90's on cable tv and then i bought the DVD when it first came out. Yes, I would have prefer they didn't mess with the color timing, but like I said, it doesn't bother me, the PQ looks real nice and someone that is not familiar with the movie would probably say the PQ rocks. If Tom says he likes the new look, then I have no objection to that. I still enjoy the movie quite a lot and of course, this is a matter of opinions, and this is mine....

I am just sharing what my custom artwork and slip look like printed and in the nice black BD cases, now this is how it should have been released, I love these black cases, also a huge thanks to Toxsic for printing the covers and making the slips, they really look great in hand!

I would have bought ten of those. Regardless of what the movie looked like.

Assuming you were being serious, here's some screen caps comparing the 2. Personally, I was disappointed with how blue/dark Twilight Times print was, however it is still a satisfying Blu Ray so I'm still happy I purchased it when I did. Spoiler Tag wrapped since I've included several photos.

+1, I'm in a zombie mood lately and I've never seen this one. I always love to watch classics or films that I have never seen before in the highest quality possible. I will probably just pick up a DVD copy considering the price on this one though.

IMO, this remake is far from a classic. Was extremely disappointed when I watched it--the original is better in every conceivable, except for maybe the effects (and there have been better zombie effects since.) Save your time and watch something different, there are hundreds of better zombie movies out there.

I'm sorry, hundreds of better zombie movies? As a fan of zombie films I can easily admit that isn't true. Majority of zombie films suck. The NOTLD remake, great or not great is still up there with the better Zombie flicks.

I did preface my statement with IMO. I felt that this remake was lifeless and pointless. I'm not much of a fan of zombie movies anymore (it's been totally overdone as of late) but I used to watch quite a few of them, and I can tell you that this was one of the worst, IMO.

That's a good idea to buy it on DVD. I read somewhere on the thread that director of the movie was unhappy with bd transfer. Don't support the blu ray scalpers .

I'd wager my Home that the Theatrical print looks exactly like the DVD print. Having seen this film about every way possible since it was released, the DVD print is what has shown up time and time again both before the advent of DVD and since. Comparing the DVD to the Blu ray is essentially the same thing as comparing the Blu Ray to the film reel.

Thanks for clarifying that..............just that some movies when compared to their theatrical release on DVD can look quite different, and even DVD releases can differ quite drastically to each other and this is where things start to get muddled. I have yet to hear of anyone who can remember how a film looked from some twenty three years ago as some on here claim to be able to.

To be honest I am bored with this debate, IMHO and the directors it looks great so that's my final word on it.

I've gotta say this movie contains one of the most incredibly stupid decisions a character has ever made in a movie that I've seen. I'm talking about when they leave the house and go to the fuel pump. If you've never seen this movie, a truck pulls up at a fuel pump, burning torch in the back of the truck, and the character has the wrong set of keys to free the pump handle from the tank.

So the only solution the character sees fit to get this thing unlocked, is to fire a shotgun at the lock at point blank range, causing gasoline to spray everywhere, including all over the burning torch in the back of the truck causing the truck and female driver to go up in flames along with the idiot standing a mere foot from the fuel tank.

I still like the movie though.

I know, right? I originally watched it this when I was a kid and it scared the **** outta me! but now it's just a total joke. That said, it's a must-have for nostalgia purposes!

Then clearly you haven't seen an original theatrical print of NOTLD '90!

To compensate for the undesired midday filming, the theatrical prints (as opposed to the original neg) were timed noticeably darker than what we saw on Laserdisc or the DVD, but lighter than this Sony/TT Blu-ray. That has already been corroborated by statements from DP Frank Prinzi posted in this thread (unfortunately a tough slog trying to find them now). To paraphrase the gist of his own words on the subject, previous home video versions were "too bright and colorful".

So the upshot here is that NO home video versions of this title are absolutely faithful to the original theatrical prints shown in 1990.
