I will gladly double dip if there is another release with a better transfer down the line.

I would as well assuming the color timing would be more accurate.

I always liked this version of NOTLD. I would love to have a Blu-ray that was correctly color timed. But this one looks really extreme. I don't have this one but just going by the screen shots. Maybe we can get an 'overseas' release soon?

I guess the argument will never be settled on this one, although the armchair experts will claim it has.

PS
I would have liked to have seen the quote Prinzi made in it's full context.

Well I personally love the way notld 90 looks. No point whining endlessly over a botched color timing. It is what it is and the TT release will never look different, so I shall continue to enjoy.

....but I did not, nor would I ever, misquote anyone.

I'm done now. I just wanted to point out a new response in this whole thing.

Well I can't understand how everyone can't see this is just to dark and blue, but then you have the other side thinking the DVD was right, well to me this is just as bad but going the other direction, it is way to bright for a Horror flick, right in between the 2 really does wonders, and really works well.

I have never said you would, but in the past quite a bit has been lost when quotes from a conversation have been posted.

As I said the way it stands at this point in time until a proper restoration is performed from correct elements we may never know the full story.

Ummm....try a different analogy. Gallileo never claimed the earth was flat. He went before the inquistion because of his theory that the earth was not the center of the universe around which all other celestail objects revolved. Even the ancient Greeks and Romans knew the world was round.

I blame persistent flat earth myths on that Kansas album cover.

I never said he was, I was referring to some posters who seem to be privy to the original intent. I am sure Tom Savini is as much a part of this film as anyone and yet he loved it..........so where does all of this leave us?

I have never even visited Egypt..............................

It still looks bad in motion I watched the disc once and sold it off, not worth upgrading from the DVD. I am hoping a UK release happens soon with proper colour timing.

I guess you never read the news in the Shout Factory thread then?

He admitted during a convention to a trustworthy forum member on these boards that it was not the best presentation he thought it would be, but he found it "ok", and seems to not really care, as much as a lot of directors who made their movies and then move forward to another project and don't really care about their past work.

It really confirms to me that Tom Savini is not one of those directors who enjoy working on the video presentation of their movies. He already didn't try to get involved in the past DVD production (ending in an an overly "bright" disaster), and he sure didn't try to get involved in this new BD production (ending in a "too dark and too blue" catastrophe)

This, plus the new point of view from the DP and I think it really should end the blabla about this release.
It's cool, it is (was) available, I'm glad I have the blu-ray, because I love the movie, I find the result admittedly easy to improve for a further possible european release or anywhere else, like Vidjunkie said, something in-between the old DVD and this BD.
Now everything else is BS to me, and you can keep on criticizing everyone who don't think the same as you do, or keep trying twisting facts so that you can make it sound like you're right and everyone else is wrong.
Still it's not the best presentation every fans of the movie hoped it would be.

Sorry not BS'g anyone only putting facts as presented to us.............I really hope that the likes of ARROW manage to take this one on board some time in the future.

For those who want to see this in HD but don't want to spend a fortune, Netflix streaming just added this title in Super HD.
