I've never watched this blu ray, but if the whole scene that should be taking place in the late afternoon is dark, and the audio from the photos being snapped at the end is gone, I would never buy it. If those were fixed, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. As of now I'll have to stick with the DVD.

It's not just one scene. The blue filter has been applied throughout the entire movie. It's like they remastered it and couldn't be bothered consistently adjusting the colors to suit what they wanted so they took a filter and placed it over the entire picture.

It looks like this was what happened as some details are completely obscured that are visible in the old master/DVD.

I will go with Savini on this one. it looks great. Remember your comparing this with an old DVD.

I wasn't sure what to think about the blue controversy when it first popped up on the boards. All I know is after seeing it in person I decided to sell it, used the money to buy used cars. Great decision. Hopefully one day this will be fixed and we can have a proper night of the living dead 1990 bluray

No not at all. That is why the Savini approved version doesn't. But this has been gone over many times before and until a properly supervised transfer is performed we have two choices DVD or Blu. You pay your money and pick your poison.

There is the HDX Vudu version. I definitely prefer the Blu-ray, though. The old master is busted AF.

Nice! Hopefully Sony have quietly corrected the master before sending it out to Umbrella. I'll probably still buy it though, as the last time I watched the "ruined" version I still enjoyed it a heck of a lot.

Something tells me we'll end up with the same master as the Twilight as Sony will be the ones deciding. Which would be a shame considering there is now a fan made blu-ray which did have the colors restored?

I own the movie on Columbia home video DVD and consider that transfer to be the correct "original" version. I've read that Savini got flack at the time for having shot the first part so bright and in sunlight and the producers weren't happy about it. Which led to the blue-tint revisionism version that would eventually get released on blu-ray. Personally I've always liked the way it starts off in full sunlight. And the colors on the DVD look great, there is no need for an additional blue filter.

YES! Umbrella seems to usually favor region free so I'm glad they got it. I just hope they make it 1080p though. They do 1080/50i sometimes which can't be played in a standard US player (even if the disc is A/B/C). I'm going to have to keep my eye on this one.

The film will be fine in this case, it's just the supplements that might be 1080i50.

Is this going to be the same as the TT version or not? That's the big question. If it has color timing more consistent with the dvd, I might have to grab this blu-ray version as well.

Agreed. The movie is no less creepy/scary for having daytime scenes. I actually found it a nice change of pace from everything always being so darn dark all the time.

Probably. That is the master they are using. The master with the correct color is an old master. Why would they use it after they spent time and money making this new one.

Night of the Living Thread!!! Amazing to think it's been more than three years since the ca-ca hit the fan about this release.

I'm pretty happy with TT's blu-ray; sure, the blueness feels a bit forced at times, but for the most part it's a satisfying presentation.

Having said that, I'm a bit of a fiend when it comes to owning different versions of the same films. (Don't ask how many copies of Alexander I own. Please don't.) So if it turns out to be a different transfer without the filters, I'd consider getting it. Why, I don't know. Because zombies? I ought to know better -- I've probably watched this release only twice since buying it; it just doesn't compare with the original.
