And to the above poster, I watched both the original and the Savini remake again not too long ago and I greatly preferred the remake. Yeah, the original is a classic for what it did for the genre and what it spawned but it's really starting to creak, not so much with the look or the effects but the performances, it's downright amateurish at times. |

Patti Tallman FTW, she's awesome in the remake which is basically why I like it so much more.

Compared to Romero's trilogy it's definitely run of the mill, but on its own, it works as a decent zombie movie. Following the success of Dawn of the Dead, the zombie genre got saturated throughout the 80s with a wave of zombie movies in the US and in Europe. I regard NOTLD 90 as a swansong to that period and also a sort of a (failed) comeback attempt by the people who were responsible for it -Romero, Savini- and who were trying to still make some cash given they lost the rights to the original NOTLD. I think the remake stands ok on its own, I like Barbara 2.0 and Tony Todd is excellent as always.

I would've liked the original art on the reverse, but if I'm reading it correctly, both sides are new art? I would've liked their Night Of Creeps release to have the original art on the reverse without the rating, but looks like that's being used on the front, with the new art on the reverse. |
