Simon Sherry is an artist (and a bloody talented one at that) employed by Umbrella Entertainment and has no personal stake in how the Australian Gubbermint forces ratings logos the size of small elephants on to the front of all home entertainment release product.

Nobody is "forcing" YOU to purchase it, so bloody well don't!

Grow up.

According to this link:

http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparison....php?fid=13577

the Umbrella disc uses the same transfer as the UK Optimum disc.

They can't be the same, because the Australian disc is MPEG-2.

Personally, I've never liked DVDcompare as an accurate source for specs, other than for comparing special features.

They're talking about the original '68 movie that will be on the JB HI-FI 2 discs limited release (along with the remake)

They could be from the same master (I no longer own the Australian disc to check), but that is not all DVDcompare is indicating. They have the Australian disc down as having an AVC encode, which says too me that whoever provided the info for that site has said that they are identical, and that is what their entry is saying. With the individual providing inaccurate specs, that also leaves their analysis of the master in question.

It might be worded wrong, but I do believe they are implying that it's sourced from the same master as the Optimum release.

Just placed an order. Fingers crossed that it's either region-free or works with the "Top menu" trick I think I remember reading about.

I love me some NOTLD '90 (saw it in the theater way back when, even though I was underage) and avoided the TT version because of the blue tint issue. Can't wait...

Nobody's forcing you to buy anything.

Well, this one (standard and 2-disc) will have a removable sticker instead of being printed on the slick. Leave it on, if you like, or cast it to the rubbish bin - the choice shall be yours!

Cheers

I will be putting my order in soon, if the limited edition sells out, I'm good with the regular release.
