LAND OF THE DEAD was one of the biggest disappointments of all time for me- at first. The film has grown on me since but I remember being insanely excited to finally have the 4th George Romero zombie film after so many years only to walk away from it shaking my head in disbelief. It's still not the film it should've been but it's not as bad as it felt when I first watched it.

I think that it has grown on a lot more people in the years since because there are so many zombie films and shows out there, that Land of the Dead is very different from all of those. It's almost a Mad Max type film, it's so out there and it doesn't take itself too seriously.

I'm a fan of Land. Survival and Diary, I just pretend those don't exist.

While Night and Dawn are THE quintessential zombie movies, Land and Day are probably my favorite movies of Romero's. Diary was... okay... And I couldn't tell you a single detail about Survival other than something about twins and a zombie riding a horse. And I've seen that movie twice. I just can not focus on it at all.

Night 1990 would probably be my favorite if it incorporated the cut gore. I love it so much. I'm really hoping this edition matches the TT one in detail, minus the insanely dark blueness.

I genuinely like diary. Found survival to be unwatchable though.

I'll give Diary some props for trying something new but Survival was bad.

The last great movie Romero did IMO is the often overlooked Bruiser. I get that Romero was offered these zombie movies but his strength has always been that he went in and out of the genre over the course of his career. Doing 3 in a row was overkill.
I remember prior to Land I was so indignant that an icon like Romero couldn't get funding for zombie films when people were getting money all over the place for zombie films. I enjoyed Land. I actually really enjoy Diary. But after Survival I was ready to donate money to a campaign to pay him to stop ruining his legacy.

Somebody already posted about the PQ in the Aus thread. No blue, but the print is allegedly a little dirtier than the one TT used. Link: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=218

Or the same scan, prior to "restoration". Which, as we know, would be a good thing if you don't like the blue!

Same here.

Honestly, I would put Land ahead of Day of the Dead. DOTD is so talky and uninteresting to me. The first two are the best, and Land gets a 7/10 for me. Simon Baker was miscast though.

Yes but I am bit disappointed they couldn't clean it up. I wanted to get rid of that awful blue now gain dirt. I still think the AUS release is the one to get because no blue and better sound.

I really like Land, but I just can group it together with Night, Dawn, or Day. In the case of Day, the movie is just so damn bleak and the effects are so brutal. Land was entertaining, but I think it had the misfortune of not being made in the 80s.

Curious as if this is a DVD-era master thrown on a BD. Still preferable to the blue horror.

Yes, the camera flash sounds are there.

It wouldn't surprise me. I was watching the DVD last night and while the low resolution hides a lot of the grit you could still tell there was a pretty rough image there. :|

I'm sure it'll still look very good on blu-ray, though.

Deep Discount is showing as backordered...knew they would be.

Anyone here from the US ever order from JB Hi-Fi? Do they ship their stuff in sturdy packaging?

I've ordere from them often. They ship in bubble envelops. The only boxed purchase I received from them was the Hammer Horror collection, but that makes sense since it's a bigger and heavier item. Also, be prepared for a lengthy wait for your items.

Wow, bubble envelope for something that's traveling half way across the globe...

Guess i'll wait/hope Deep Discount gets some more in stock.

I've never received a damaged disc. Even the cases have arrived in perfect condition. Just ordered a few more movies from them and I'm confident they'll arrive in good shape. Also have received good customer service from them, one package was lost and the replaced it immediately- no questions asked.

It usually takes about 2 weeks to arrive to California. In the mean time I will watch other horror films.

I received an order from them once in under 3 weeks. All other orders took 4 to 6 weeks to reach me. But I'm a patient man so waiting doesn't bother me.

4 to 6 weeks from day of shipping. That's not counting the week or two waiting for order to be filled out.
