I'm ordering mine on Friday from Best Buy, how does the picture look?

So, my order of the limited edition still has not arrived from JB Hi-fi. Shipped on March 31 to Canada, and...nothing. Anyone out there still waiting on theirs as well, or is mine just gone forever?

In the Australian thread of this title, there were/are a number of Canadians who had yet to receive their copies as well. I was probably the most vocal here on the boards and even had Canada Post look into it, but I did receive my copy last Friday and was shipped the same day as yours. Actually, it seems everyone here had theirs shipped the same day (30th March), but no rhyme or reason to when you may get it. Some got it in less than 2-3 weeks, but the majority, like myself waited for 2 months to get it, so with that said, you'll probably get it this week.

Mine shipped one day before yours and I only received it last Wednesday so it took exactly 2 months for me to receive it despite the package being sent via Air Mail (which is normally pretty fast as it doesn't have to "wait" anywhere like SAL mail does).

And from what I've observed, it seems to be only packages sent to Ontario that have an unusually long delivery time but I couldn't guess as to why that would be. Hopefully yours arrives soon.

I ordered mine last Thursday from Best Buy's website, where it's only $17.99. It's listed as "special order" and they give a pretty long estimated wait time, but it is arriving tomorrow. Pleasantly surprised, assuming it's the correct disc and everything.

Update: it was the correct edition. I watched it and it's pretty good-looking aside from
the specks and some really heavy-handed edge enhancement.

Thanks for the info. My copy shipped on 4/14 and I haven't received it yet in South Eastern Ontario.

I just received mine from Best Buy, since I can't compare it to the twilight time release, I'd say the Umbrella blu ray looks great! Only took a week from best buy as well!

Plus there's the other issue: the Twilight Time disc runs, what - 80 or 100 bucks? I want the movie, but not enough to drop a C-note on it. I'll get the Kangaroo version for 18, thank you very much.

Hmmm, looks like the prices went waaaay down since last I checked then. That said, 18 bucks>30 bucks, so I'll still go ozzie.

Well, as it turns out, Umbrella Entertainment just reissued Drive In Delirium Volume 1, so while I was picking that up, I had 'em kick in a copy of NotLD90. And it was only 15 bucks! Cheaper than DDD or Diabolik by a couple of bucks.

Concur - mine showed up a couple of days ago and while I haven't watched the whole thing yet (Hey, I have a bunch of American Ninja to get through! Dont judge me!), I did take a quick look. The picture is gorgeous and the disc plays fine, even the extras.

I've never had any particular problem with the TT disc -- sometimes the blue darkness becomes a bit overbearing, but at other times I prefer the look to the garish daylight of the DVD transfer -- but I'm tempted to go for this release anyway. Call it the act of an idle blu-ray consumer who just got a nice little tax refund.

What I've gathered is that the picture is certainly no worse than the TT release, just minus the blue? Effectively the same otherwise?

It's an older transfer, and isn't as pristine as the TT release. But it's minus the blue and darkness, which makes it better overall.

Actually, after watching the film again the blue tint just doesn't make sense the way it's edited. It's not until the Barbara character get to the house is there a montage showing the setting sun - so why would it be tinted blue prior to that? Perhaps graying the brightness minus a tint would suggest a cloudy sky, but a blue tint is simply wrong when viewing the montage.

Plus it has a great interview with Tom Savini.

Just placed an order for the Australian release of this. I knew about the improved color timing but didn't realize it also has more special features until after I placed the order and looked at the back over image on this site, so... score!
