This is the NOTLD color remake right? Think it is... if so, will probably try to preorder this one as soon as it goes live. Never owned this one and always wanted to. $30 does seem kind of step though... oh well.. probably still worth it. Can't wait :-D

Not entirely true. The UK Optimum release is region locked. The UK Network release is region free.
The original NOTLD is available in the US. However, you won't find it in stores.
Just do a search at the top and you'll see that there are multiple versions of the original NOTLD on Blu-ray.

The original NOTLD has only ever been released on video in open-matte, no theatrical aspect ratio transfers are out there. There are no official US bds of NOTLD, btw.

Regarding the 1990 remake. I like the idea of this coming out but the limited run is annoying. I highly highly doubt there will be any extras or/and commentary, so $30 is a bit steep. There will be people will to spend this amount and like Fright Night, these will sell rather quickly.

I do think, at some point there will be a regular release will any and all of the extras that the DVD release had. It is just a matter of waiting.

NOTLD 1990 DVD
Specs and Features
88 mins, R, letterboxed widescreen (1.85:1), 16x9 enhanced, full frame (1.33:1), dual-sided, single-layered, Amaray keep case packaging, audio commentary with director Tom Savini, "making of" featurette The Dead Walk: Remaking a Classic, theatrical trailers (for Night of the Living Dead (1990) and The Tingler, production notes insert, cast and crew bios, film-themed menu screens, scene access (28 chapters), language: English (DD 2.0) and Portuguese (DD mono), subtitles: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean and Thai, Closed Captioned

NOTLD 1990 Blu-ray
Twilight release
Specs and Special Features
88 mins, R, letterboxed widescreen (1.85:1), blu-ray dual layer, film themed menu, scene access (28 Chapters), no audio commentary, no extras ported from DVD, indepth featurette Ouch this Costs $30 Bucks!, limited 3000 production run.

IF Sony is doing this because of money (lack thereof)... it doesn't look good for Blu-ray. Remember during the format war, Sony went all-in on Blu-ray to the point where IF somehow HD-DVD had pulled the rabbit out of their hat, we might have been seeing Sony in bankruptcy proceedings...

So, they win the war... but lose the battle? IF the grandfather of Blu-ray doesn't see the value in releasing its own catalog of movies on Blu-ray... what reason do the other movie studios have? Sony should have a reason to support the format above and beyond everyone else... so if Sony is bailing, that doesn't sound good.

Sony's never had a strong history of supporting it's own technology. See Minidisc and SACD.

This is the movie that put me onto the legendary Tony Todd. I've always dug this movie so I may have to bite the bullet on this.

As for getting the original on blu-ray, the most recent (and arguably best) DVD was released by the Weinstein Company, an edition approved by George Romero. So if a quality Region A release is to appear, it will likely be from them or a company licensing from them.

That's the Happinet release in Japan (region A). 1080p, lossless sound and a very high bitrate taken from the Dimension/Weinstein transfer. A bit pricey though...

Im sure the transfer will be an upgrade but if the bonus features arent there, then its a downgrade. They need to make it worth the $35.00 investment. A magnet doesnt quite do it

shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!, you're supposed to be thankful that TT is even getting this film because us evil consumers won't pay tons of money and are making the poor studios not want to put anything out on blu-ray. now go pay $35 for this and be happy!!!!

/sarcasm

but I do agree. Sony has gotten lazy. but then again they don't do anything unless it's guaranteed quick profits. look how fast they ditched minidiscs etc.

$30 is steep. But this is easily the best zombie movie next to Dawn and the Dawn remake and a must own. Shitty for limited release.

The US Release (Forgotten Films) is excellent. Great PQ. I got mine a while ago and I am happy with it. The 1990 remake is the only remaining zombie flick I am missing for my collection.
