The sales are slowing down after the first 24+ hours. To be expected. Still, they probably won't last too too long. Glad I have a copy locked in!

A typical Twilight Time release consists of:
  1. A MPEG-4 AVC encoded 1080P film transfer
  2. An era appropriate (mono, stereo, 5.1 surround, etc.) DTS-HD MA audio track
  3. A stereo DTS-HD MA isolated score track (music only, no dialogue)
  4. Original theatrical trailer(s)(if available)

Sometimes, such as is the case with this release, an audio commentary is included, but it's hardly a given for a typical release. Other special features that were part of prior DVDs are not included on the Twilight Time Blu-Ray, as their contract with Sony (and possibly Fox as well) does not allow them to use or create any special features on or for the release.

Twilight Time's schtick (aside from the limited pressings) is the isolated soundtrack, which is appropriate given that Screen Archives Entertainment's primary merchandise is film score CDs, but I'd venture a guess that this is an unappreciated or underappreciated (depending on your point of view) feature that would seem to have little, if any, bearing on one's decision to purchase the title. I believe I've read that they hold an exclusivity on their titles for 3 years after their release.
There have been a few other extras, presumably provided to them by Fox. There were some interviews with Kim Novak on her titles. Two on Bell Book And Candle and one on Pal Joey.

Oh yeah of course. But that fact they sold over half their stock within TWO DAYS is pretty impressive. Still pretty good odds it sells out before release day.

Pretty much agree. Some extras would really go a long way towards justifying their prices. That's why I can't really find much fault with Criterion's pricing. You're almost guaranteed amazing PQ/AQ and it comes with excellent extras for the money.

Of course if TT happens to get a favorite of mine then I will have to splurge, but if it's just a BD I wouldn't mind having then that's just not worth the money for me.

They make an initial authorization, which is then removed, and then they charge you when it ships.

This will be my 2nd TT purchase. I got on Fright Night cause I knew I'd want it, and figured I've spent $30 on dumber things in my life. Apparently its a HUGE deal.

Now that I have NotLD on its way as well.. I wondered. Is there any reason why I shouldn't open my FN blu? Its basically a collectors item, based on amazon and ebay prices.

I usually leave my movies sealed unless there is a DC in with them. And open them when I want to watch. But, I've wanted to watch FN a few times and was like.. ehhhh maybe I should just leave it in the plastic. Part of the reason why I ordered a couple NotLD movies. Open one, leave one sealed.

Kinda like my collectable horror figures. I'm not going to sell them.. but, I still leave them in the packaging. Maybe I'm just OCD or something.

They didn't debit my Paypal account, nor did I receive a confirmation e-mail from Screen Archives. I've read that some people got one from them, so I'm a bit worried.

Not sure what you mean when you say, "They didn't debit my Paypal account". I never get an order confirmation from SAE but I get a payment notice from PayPal.

Anyway...

Go to the Screen Archives site. On the left side of the screen, find the menu choice for "My Account". Click on it an log into your account. Then go to "My Orders". You pre-order for NOTLD should be there. If it is, your good. If it isn't, something is wrong.

Ill Be Back said he got charged when he used Paypal, that's what I meant. Thanks for the advice!

Their website says:
4. Payment details. Credit cards are pre-authorized but not captured until we ship the order. Check or PayPal payments are required at time of order.

From what I understand, this means that with PayPal your funds will be taken immediately. If you pay by credit card through the Screen Archives website, they'll lock the funds but it won't officially show up on your statement until October when the item ships.

I remember watching this movie when I was in high school. My brother, a very large group of friends and me went to see it and it was such great fun . My brother and his family are coming over to my house the weekend after the release for a watch...should be a lot of fun (at least for the two of us). I have not watched this movie since my intial theater viewing . I'll throw some churrascos on the grill, which should go down very well with rum and coke.

I would be a bit worried too. I received a confirmation e-mail within minutes, last night.

Thanks to Dex Robinson, I didn't realize I could have easily checked the My Account page on their website.

I may be crucified for this, but I think this is actually better than the original... and I say that as a Romero fan!

Please do not use this thread to try to scalp Fright Night BD. Also, I'll be very wary of someone with zero feedback offering FN Blu-ray.

I'm not crucifying you, I like this flick and it is a really solid remake, but the original Night is probably in my top 3. The atmosphere, the black and white, all the commentary that is going on (deliberate or intentional), the creepy vibe, and the sheer replay value makes the original tops in my book.

But I can easily see why someone would prefer the remake. It's a lot of fun, it's in color, it's gorier, and Barbara is way more pro-active (though I still like catatonic Barbara better....especially when she comes alive near the end and tries to fight a little). And I suppose there is the Tony Todd factor as well.

I'm just thankful this movie respects its source and I like to watch it every few years or so. But I just don't come back to it yearly like I do with the '68 version.
