Bugger. Blu-ray does not appear to have the short 25 min The Dead Walk featurette from the R1/R2 dvd. That's strange because they do include director's commentary track. Featurette had some deleted scenes or cuts which had to be made in order to lower the rating from X/NC-17 to R. Featurette was pretty good albeit too short.

Yup. Gonna have to transfer this to a 2-disc case and make my own BD/DVD hybrid. I've had to do this more than a few times, with different studios, and have just learned to accept it.

It's not like the DVD has much value anyway, so it's not a huge deal to me.

Unfortunately, I heard the footage was in an extremely poor state. Also, I remember hearing Savini say that the R Rated version is his preferred cut. I was sad hearing that since the removed gore was pretty kick ass (the head explosion made me giddy). Hopefully the footage is out there in good condition waiting for an uncut release. I really do hate the fact that movie censorship was so rampant in the 80s and 90s, there wouldn't be a problem getting NOTLD90 passed uncut these days.

I say we petition for an uncut version for the next blu ray

True, but who wants to wait 3 years(!) or more for a price drop? If it's a movie you enjoy, and have the cash, go for it. But honestly, how many of us spend, easily, $30 minimum for a night at the movies without thinking about it twice? I go to the movies by myself once in a while and that's how much I spend on average. I'll have likely forgotten the film by the time the sun comes up but a Blu-ray will last me considerably longer.

Just one persons opinion
Do you guys realize that logic makes no sense?

You're arguing that it's ok for people to buy multiples for flipping for profit because everyone who wants the movie has a chance right now...

BUT... IF that is true, just who are these flippers going to sell to? I mean... if everyone who wants the movie knows and has a chance to buy it right now... then there should be ZERO people left to scalp the things to at a higher price in a month, right?

So... then why would you buy extra copies? The ONLY reason to buy extras is because you want to beat out people now who want the movie but don't know about it yet... so, you are thusly taking advantage of their not being able to find the movie today.

I am really on the fence with this one.

I do LOVE this movie.

Is the PQ of these Screen Archives / Twilight Time worth it at all ?

It all seems so "Brand X" to me.

not everyone. everyone who knows about SAE will know about their chance to get it. if they don't konw about SAE they won't really get a chance to order it anyways so we're just exploiting other market areas.

Not everyone can afford every single title they want the moment it is released.

It depends on the title, most of them look fantastic. Fright Night was amazing and I'm guessing this is gonna be the best NOTL90 can look.

You seriously think everyone knows about this release? Seriously? I can pretty much guarantee that everyone who wants this doesn't know about this release. Not everyone visits sites like this to be aware of such titles. Not to mention the fact that even if everyone single person who wants this on Blu knows about it, supply likely wouldn't even meet that demand and people would pay a premium in the resale market.

I'd be willing to guess that no more than maybe 500 copies are being bought up by 'speculators'. We already got confirmation from TT that people are misinformed and only a very small portion are bought up by speculators.

A lot of the people who miss out on these releases are the ones who want it but are unwilling to pay the price tag on it. That's exactly how I missed out on fright night. I didn't feel it justified the price at the time and passed on it. Are the so called speculators the reason I missed out? No. I had a chance to buy it and I didn't.

There are many people who do not know about TT or SAE. Why do you think people are preordering NOTLD on eBay for $65?

I was just trying to say that most people who already know about TT will have the opportunity to pick it up. Very few people that do not are unlikely to stumble upon it at random.

The only reason these releases sell on eBay for the prices they do is because a lot of the people who want these movies are completely unwatered that they are being released. I don't necessarily see how that's the speculators fault. Especially since they are not buying up a huge portion of the release... According to TT

Creating other market avenues is fine, but it's not an excuse, nor an opportunity to take advantage of people who are ignorant about the release of this blu-ray by price gouging.Exactly how would you feel if someone paid $35.00 for a blu-ray movie, and you've purchased it online for $150.00, or more?

I figure the overlap of FOTLD '90 fans and ardent Blu Ray fans would overlap would equal at least 3000 potential buyers. But I'm sure not all of them utilize the internet to find out about this release.

I would guess that as soon as there are only a couple hundred copies left they will go quickly, mostly by speculators.

If the person is willing to pay $150 for it then who cares? There's no gun to the person's head telling them they must buy it is there?. It's not like it's essential to their life or anything. If they personally felt it was worth $150 then who are we to argue that? Do you honestly believe the people paying $150 for such a movie actually believe the seller paid anywhere close to that for their copy? I'm sure they're quite aware that they probably are paying just a fraction of that. This is Economics 101.

supply and demand, supply and demand, simple economics. it's worth whatever someone will pay for it.

I buy things all the time that someone paid less for. I bought a book a few weeks ago from a used bookstore. they sold it for $2. average going rate. however the back of the book has an msrp of $1.35... someone paid less than me for the same book new years ago. it's worth whatever I'm willing to spend on it. it's the way of the market. and let me tell you. a lot of these resallers for ANY market paid a lot less than what you pay for the item at your your store. I can order chemicals to spray my yard for weeds for about $150 online. same amount of chemicals at Home depot or my local pest supply place...$250...it's called mark up and it's HOW capitalism works
