i was also completely shocked when Sony sold the rights to "Fright Night" just as the remake was hitting the market. i think that also upped the demand for the original more than this "NotLD" re-make will, having nothing else current to support it...

I don't mind people buying a couple copies to sell but if you're buying 20 or 30 copies to sell, that's just wrong.
Wow really? 20 to 30 copies is like close to a grand up front.

A smart reseller would likely float that capital on a credit card using a zero-percent interest balance offer. There are basically reselling professionals on Slickdeals who do these type of transactions all the time.

I can't see Candyman being a candidate, as it's already had a wide release in the UK and Europe from Universal on BD. So an HD master certainly exists (and very nice it looks too), but I'm sure that TT won't request this title as they know it's freely available to anyone who really wants a copy.

Candyman by Twilight Time would easily sell 3000 units over the course of three years.

I agree. They are looking for something that doesn't exist anywhere. Im betting close to half of their business is outside the US, there is a reason they clearly print, in capital letters REGION FREE in the specs for the movie.

Well, the max, I would ever pay is what I just paid SAE. I have over 400 Blus in my price tracker and everyday we see new catalog releases. LeSamurai, The Hidden Fortress, Throne of Blood...yeah, I would pay a lot for those. Thankfully, the 3,000 limited release is not getting any of those titles. The Blob (1988), Christine...I would want to add to my collection but not for a penny more than what they already charge.

The easier method is to add the title to your wishlist.

That wouldn't surprise me. What I don't understand is why all the other companies (Criterion, Olive Films, Shout/Scream Factory, etc) are required to region lock their releases yet Twilight Time isn't restricted to the same requirements.

I don't know what you've been reading The Real Horror, but all I have on order is my own NOTLD90 Blu-ray, plus one for a friend without an SAE account who'll be buying me a Guiness when it arrives, plus one to tuck away for my Spring oil change. Sorry, but that's the extent of it.

Now I think I really do that T-shirt:

I think what we're seeing here is just an extreme telescoping of the curve Fright Night went through Yankees0222. That one also started very fast, resulting in SAE's first service denial *burp*, which sure as h3ll wasn't due to the other pre-order that month Rapture, then it had steady sales through the remaining pre-order period, but accelerated again as it got closer to release date and dipped below 1000 (i.e. less than a third remaining).

Today's spike in action on NOTLD90 sort of looks like the tail end of that curve, especially when FN hit the 500 threshold and SAE's e-mail went out, only in this case, more likely the result of word of mouth among fence-sitting fans hearing that the first 2000 discs had already sold over its first weekend. Once FN reached that same under 1000 tipping point, everyone could clearly see where it was headed, so there was not only an almost instaneous run on those 100 Tom Holland signed copies (which would have happened anyway), but also a complete sellout of the remaining 400 non-signed copies within like a day and half.

So I see the same basic pattern here. The only thing that seems significantly different in this case, is how fast it's occuring.

You might be right, but I doubt it. First off, the guys at TT (all three of them) probably don't know, or care. If they did happen to release it, it would most likely be region locked (because Sony doesn't have worldwide rights). Second, I think they could easily move 3000 units--even if we're only talking about buyers in North America.

Anyway, I'm still waiting for Clark Kent to rattle off "several" horror titles from Sony, that would magically sell out within a week.

Oh they know alright. When asked on Facebook if they would consider releasing the original NOTLD since there is public domain they said no because being that it is public domain anyone could release an edition, or buy one of the other editions already out there. In other words they had a title that they could release and maybe even get some extras this time by possibly working with Romero. But no because it doesn't work with their whole limited edition model. Trust me everything with their business depends on their movies being rare even world wide. And a good percentage that can find that ridiculous screenarchives.com can certainly figure how to import if the import is cheaper. I mean only people that post on these boards or read certain sites even know about it anyway.

Baiting me is not going to work. I'm quite aware that Twilight Time is reading this thread and I've already spoken enough. As I've said before, Christine will sell out as quickly as NOTLD apparently will. That was a wise choice by Twilight Time. It's a simple matter really of working backwards from the prime buying demographics, specifically for horror Blu-rays.

I just tried to order 3000 units but it changes to 1. Does that mean there's fewer than 500 left? I really can't see where the remaining amount available number is
