We apologize for the inconvenience but due to frequent packages not arriving to customers in your country we will not replace any lost or stolen orders unless you option for Registered or Express Mail. Registered Mail is trackable and Express Mail is trackable and faster delivery. An additional $15 or $25 in postage will be added to your order depending the option you select. If you choose to continue without either service please note we will NOT replace this order if lost. Kind regards, Screen Archives

I dont want my parcel going missing as this is in my favourite zombie movie made. However i dont want to pay another $15 on top of my already $7 shipping. But then again i dont want to be $37 down if i dont receive. If i pay will paypal do you reckon il be covered by paypal if i dont receive ?? I understand some parcels go missing but (touch wood) none of mine have but ive never orded from here before and that disclaimer is a little off putting
I am in the same boat as you, mate but I opted for the normal $7.50 postage after checking various other forums in regards to lost parcels in the UK. Out of any of the guys I swapped posts with, that have ordered from Screen Archives previousiy, none lost their orders. Granted that doesn't mean it can't happen and you always take a chance. I think the very fact that statement is so promenat on their website has put a certain amount of poeple off or pushed them to go the registered route for a further $15.
I used Paypal so they should cover for undelivered items, from what I've been told.

Yes that is the only positive thing about paypal. Also packages rarely go missing. They are just covering their asses.

Thanx mate i had previously orded with my bank with the $15 registered on top but ive just emailed them to cancel that order and im gonna re-order with paypal. I think if that disclaimer wasnt there then all would be fine, but that little paragraph doesnt half leave some doubt haha

Oh, I really don't know. Maybe none. I was just saying, the rest of the Sony releases that are region free, they're probably like that because Sony has worldwide rights.

But no because it doesn't work with their whole limited edition model. Trust me everything with their business depends on their movies being rare even world wide. And a good percentage that can find that ridiculous screenarchives.com can certainly figure how to import if the import is cheaper. I mean only people that post on these boards or read certain sites even know about it anyway.
Hey, maybe you guys are right. Perhaps Sony won't even offer titles when they don't hold the rights in all regions, or it's possible TT is aware and they just skip those titles.

It's a simple matter really of working backwards from the prime buying demographics, specifically for horror Blu-rays.
Whatever, man. You said you could name several Sony horror titles that would sell out within a week. I said you couldn't, but asked anyway because I was curious. 'nuff said.

When I ordered Fright Night last year, I think that message popped up as well, but I did just the standard shipping, and got it pretty quick.

I have faith in them. Can't wait to get my hands on this!

So I have a serious question. What if the transfer is just mediocre? I would think that if they are going to do this type of thing with a movie (Limit it to 3000 and charge $30+) that they have a certain responsibility to make sure it is almost Criterion-like in quality. Or is it just "buyer beware" and we're stuck with what we have?

The transfer will most likely be better than "mediocre". If you want, wait until some reviews come in before you open your copy. Then, if the transfer is underwhelming, just return it. I doubt Screen Archives (or Ed ) will hassle you.

Yeah, that is definitely my plan. The reason I bit the bullet and bought it is that I heard the Fright Night transfer was very good. I went into this based on that.

Don't believe him, ED lives to hassle!

But that brings up a good point. Why can't they get an early review out? Seriously what would be so bad about having a few reviews out there on the first pre-order day? I could only help them sell more copies right? Just make them screener copies on a BD-R and no packaging if your worried about those copies getting out and screwing up your 3000 thing. As it is im sure there will be a review eventually on here but why? To help people decide if it's worth it to plunk down the extra cash to scalpers?

As already noted Joe, except for its telescoped speed, NOTLD90 seems to be following a very similar curve to FN...fast start, even faster finish.

That has less to do with speculation than human nature. Once NOTLD90 hits the 500 remaining threshold and SAE's e-mail goes out, anyone who has been waffling over it, or waiting to see reviews first, will quickly jump if their alternative is missing out entirely or paying considerably more in the after market.

fright night looked great in my opinion, I have confidence in them... for the price we are paying and the clientele they are reaching out to I highly doubt they would give us something similar to an upscaled dvd

Also once they hit the 500 mark they are limiting to one per customer so speculators are no longer a factor after that.

Transfer is done by Sony and should be solid. Reviews will not be out for a while...the 500 units remaining email will be going out in a day or two (my opinion)...

Can't wait for NOTLD 1990 to come out! Saw it in the theater on opening night back in the day and loved it (1968 version is CLEARLY better though) I preordered a few.. one to keep and a couple to flip at a latter date so I can buy more TT titles when they are released (CHRISTINE)

Speaking of that.. here is a list of horror titles from Sony I think they should release:

John Carpenter's Vampires (This would sell out no problem)
When a Stranger Calls 1979
Silent Rage
The Blob 1988
976-Evil
Idle Hands
13 Ghosts 1960
The Tingler (need more Vincent Price on Blu)

They also should release the following non horror:

Runaway 1984
U TURN
Mary Reilly
Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger

Also they need to release the following Charles Bronson films:

Hard Times
Breakout
The Stone Killer

These are just off the top of my head I'm sure I missed quite a few...

Nice list. 976-EVIL would be an interesting one. I've never seen it, but that's mostly because the dvd is full screen. Idle Hands is actually with Image for the time being. It remains to be seen if they're going to release a BD (I'd buy it for sure, if they did!). The Blob '88 seems inevitable from Twilight Time, now that they've got Christine locked up.
