Fair enough, maybe there is more cross over.

Don't get me wrong, 25 more titles moved for one that's sitting with 500+ remaining isn't going to help much but the more titles they get that draw eyes to the site the more they sell.

Heck, I never heard of Rapture until I hit their site last Fall -- now I've got a copy on my shelf.

Not everyone is buying to resell... theoretically you could buy 2 for yourself (what if one breaks or gets scratched? They're limited... no new copies available once they sell out) -- or what if you're buying to give as a gift? Etc.

I think limiting to 2 or even 3 is reasonable.

417 remaining.

If they still have copies left a week from now I might grab another for myself. Never thought of the prospect of not being able to buy another copy if something happens to the first one. It's like the Twilight Zone episode where Burgess Meredith breaks the last pair of glasses left on Earth after a nuclear war (and I'm certainly not paying scalper prices on ebay).

Who am I kidding - these will be gone before the weekend is out.

If this was released before "Fright Night", meaning not much people would be aware of the limit yet, how fast do you guys think this will sell out?

Somehow not having a copy of NOTLD'90 seems less severe than losing my glasses in that situation.

But seriously, anybody wonder -- WTF happens if a copy breaks or gets lost? BAM - done -- unless you pick up a copy on the secondary market. Hadn't really considered it until now. Seems a little steep to buy 2 just to cover that possibility. Heck, it's still probably just worth it to risk it and if it does ever break suck it up and buy a copy off of Ebay.

We will probably never know but I'm guessing it wouldn't have sold as fast. The FN situation has made people who were on the fence bite the bullet and grab a copy. Even if you're not 100% sure now -- suppose you want a copy in a year or two... then you're spending triple to get one.

I don't think anyone saw the FN situation happening -- it's wised up many of us *looks to the DVD/BD wall and sighs at the empty space Fright Night would occupy...

Something no one has mentioned: look at the box office difference between these two films. It's VERY CLEAR the FN has a much larger fan base specifically compared to NOTLD90. It's not even close.

Home video is what helped NOTLD 1990. From what I recall, it had a very limited theatrical run. I don't remember even seeing the theatrical trailer back then.

^Yep, that's just the way it happened with me. Picked up Big Heat and NoTLD90 on pre-orders after scoffing at the "fools" that bought a bare-bones Fright Night for 30$

i think they're very close to same as far as fanbase

box office tells you nothing.

EDTV outgrossed - Big Lebowski, office space, super troopers etc.

but i dont think anyone would call it more popular

Like to see numbers on that. It's funny but I remember NOTLD90 being released in the theaters but not on video.

Box office tells you a lot. To be dismissive of that implies you don't understand this. EDTV grossed 22, Lebowski 17million. That's a difference which means - guess what? - EDTV was more popular than Lebowski upon initial release. That's EXACTLY what that means. Leboswki has legs that EDTV doesn't. That's clear as well since their release.

FN's box office is 5x as large as NOTLD90's 25 to 5million. That's a large difference which I think we'll see when NOTLD prices don't hit the $160ish that FN is hitting in the secondary market.

Why did you say that?

Now I'm concerned. Does anyone know if Screen Archives Entertainment keep some behind as replacement copies for a few that will inevitably go missing in the mail or not work? One would think a business who sells BDs would have such precautions in place but then again some companies dont care. I don't really know enough about them yet to know whether they are that sort of company. I don't really want to buy a second copy to protect myself against something that has an extremely small chance of happening but here I find myself considering it.

No need to be concerned. We've got you covered if such happens.
