So I see. (I'm tracking the review) I think LG is making a mistake by dribbling product into the market. One look from an average consumer with money to spend will be sold on these UHD OLEDs. (The 98% that doesn't spend time in threads like this one) The content producers aren't going to pay much attention to the black levels that these sets can display if there isn't a sufficient number of sets in use. LG needs to stop skimming the high end and get to price parity sooner than 2018 (current target) if they can. LG should concentrate on doing a deal with Sony to provide OLED panels to Sony and get some decent video processing from Sony for the LG sets. |

Well, let's hope for a similar price trajectory that occurred with the 9800, though I doubt it will be quite that sharp with the 4K and >55" panels. Chinese firms seem to be the best bet for rebadging with Japan, Inc continuing to be in dire financial straits.

I've never heard of them removing urls from comments before. Reviews yes, that's automatic unless it's to an Amazon site (and only the Amazon site you're reviewing from, can't link to Amazon US in a UK review).

Have seen the 65 and 77" models at the Fry's in Las Vegas twice now (once in January, once this weekend). Both are afflicted with what appears to be burn-in from the LG OLED logo that appears on the stock video loop, with it being more pronounced on the 77" than the 65" (the 77" also has some other nondescript retention/burn-in in the center of the screen). Fry's apparently plays this short (3 to 5-minute?) loop every day, all day. I'm hoping that in typical use, this would not be a problem and that the aging algorithm simply hasn't been activated as would occur in more common usage. Either way, I hope you can pass this onto LG, Robert, because these panels are prominently displayed on their own stage setup in the middle of the store. It's extremely off-putting for displays priced at $10k and $25k, respectively, and can't be good for the brand or the tech either.

I am going through Las Vegas in April. Instead of stopping by the Pawn Shop, I will stop by Fry's. Is it on 6845 S Las Vegas Blvd? I am getting excited. There is finally a chance for me to see the 65 & 77 OLEDs and I don't have to fly to Scarsdale, N.Y. to do it. m Last edited by JimShaw; 03-30-2015 at 02:51 PM. |

There's only one of them in the area, so that is most likely the address (I used Google Maps to get me there.

Really good (especially the enhanced detail provided by 4K on that 77"). The area was lit like the rest of the store, so the full benefit of the absolute blacks was not able to be seen. Also, if you're like me, a visible defect like the aforementioned can be so distracting that it's hard to notice much else from the sets. I thought I saw some very slight DSE on horizontal panning on the 65". We really do need a Robert Zohn in the west for seeing these at their most optimum.
