2nd, if there are any measurements of the 65E6, then please let us know.
The current rumour says that the max peak brightness is determined by the size, so the 65E6 should have about the same nits as the 65G6. |

Different meters, variation from TV to TV and the window size used to measure the peak luminance would account for different measurements. I don't have our E6 peak luminance measurements saved, but they were very slightly lower than the 1st G6s we tested.

It is not clear whether HDMI 2.1 is a hardware or firmware upgrade. However, Samsung confirmed to Display Daily that it will push out a firmware upgrade for its current TVs later this year to enable dynamic metadata for HDR. It is unclear if this update will apply only to 2016 models or if 2015 models will receive an update, too
Read more at http://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php...BZLzPGvlTv0.99 This is crucial! We really need to know from LG if they can do the FW upgrade or if this requires a 2017 OLED display. Samsung upgraded sets last year from 2.0 to 2.0a where LG did not with the 9600 unable to work with a UHD player. |

I'm still waiting a few years until the tech gets better and cheaper. My under 3000 hour 60vt60 i will hold me over.

Second, the very minor banding is so minimal it's difficult to see with any content and the OLED voltage compensation program will minimize the screen uniformity issue. Try running the program from the user menu called "Clear Panel Noise" to correct the banding. Sorry your E6 has issues. Authorized LG dealers have an exchange policy to protect customers with issues. Call your retailer to see if they qualify for this LG Authorized Dealer swap program. If you purchased through an unauthorized you may be able to work with LG for a solution. -Robert |

Thanks, Robert. I'm still within the return period. I hate exchanging multiple times for the same model for fear of getting something even worse, so I'm trying my hand at the more costly G6 lottery (hope it's less of one). If my troubles persist, I guess LG VIP will be next. The local technician with whom they contract is not very attuned to PQ problems, so I'm reluctant to ask for their help.
I used the Clear Panel Noise feature once around 20 hours, but it didn't improve the set's condition markedly. As for pixel mortality, their first generation of OLED 1080p panels could have upwards of dozens (I think my first had about 12). The EF9500 was a flawless product pixel-wise, but the near-black uniformity was in shambles. I unfortunately can see the fully dead pixel on the E6 from 6 feet out on brightly lit uniform backgrounds, and there are times when I like to sit this close to take in the extra detail afforded by 4K. |

In spite of my complaints, it is much better today but not cheaper (well, it is but only if you use the 2013 $15k 55" 1080p OLED as a baseline). The VT60 is a glower in the dark. OLED can really spoil you by offering zero blacks, faults and all.

As I think you know near black detail is fixed on 2016 4K OLED TVs as are all of the other anomalies that were in the 2015 and previous series.
Screen uniformity should be better then you are experiencing so if the "Clear Panel Noise" does not correct the screen uniformity to where you can not see banding with content then you must have a defective panel. Your eyesight is something to be admired. I have 20/15 eyesight and can't see a dead pixel on a 65" 3840x2160 display more than 4' from the screen. Stuck sub-pixels can be seen on some solid screens at up to 6' from the screen. |

There are 2 bands left and right of center that are not improved with the CNP feature. Those in the UK had an even worse case of it where it made sports content difficult to watch. I can see that ever so faintly on mine. Occasionally, near-black content will trigger others that I can see faintly on my screen. I've seen better IRE shots than mine, so back to the lottery I go. As always, they are a work-in-progress, but these are obviously the best OLEDs ever conceived.

When there is a working 60" OLED without banding and other makers get into the act and prices get around 4k i may jump. Just looks like LG is the only game in town.

^Exactly. Waiting for the perfect set is a fool's errand. Samsung is the only other manufacturer who has a chance of making one, and they once again affirmed OLED is not part of their future plans.
It was a 50" Elite that I sold back in August 2013. It was beginning to exhibit uneven wear, and I wanted something bigger. Enter the Panasonic ZT60 in June 2013, a loud IR magnet. I also bought an LG 55EA9800 in 2014 for a bedroom, which eventually became the great room TV. Sold the ZT60 in late 2014 due to the aforementioned reasons and used the EA9800 for a year. Missed the size of the ZT60 so I grabbed a 65EF9500 in November 2015. Traded that in due to near-black banding defects for an E6 last month. It's an amazing TV and huge improvement over the 9500. The pixel defects and the fact that there are more uniform panels out there has me upgrading to the G6 at the end of this month. I held onto the Kuro for 5 years, and I'm hoping to do the same (at least) with my next TV, so a lot is riding on this upgrade. |

Just an idea to throw out to you Robert. But it looks like the shout Factory imax discs are coming with sdr and hdr options on the discs. This would make the perfect demo to have setup either in store or at the shootout. The upcoming journey to space I'm reading the hdr version looks much better than the sdr version. This way, you can compare 4k vs 4k and have a more true comparison of how hdr enhances the image. I can't wait to watch journey into space on an OLED with its perfect blacks! http://ultrahd.highdefdigest.com/317...ahdbluray.html |
