Here is an example of a LG LED that supposedly can display full HDR. This and the UH9500 with the proper HDR source should produce an even better picture than any of the OLED 2016 models because of the 1000 nits included. I am not sure about this until I see it with my own eyes, of course

The OLED will absolutely mop the floor with an IPS panel LCD. The LG LCD's are not UHD certified so they will not reach 1000 nits brightness, more like 548 nits. The OLEDs are brighter than any of the SUHD LG LCD panels. OLEDs are ranging from 640 to 770 nits. http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/uh8500
Don't assume all new Tv's are UHD premium certified. Very few are!

HDR is an acronym for High Dynamic Range. Emphasis on Range. Peak brightness is just peak brightness, but without good black levels you don't have good Range. OLED has perfect blacks since the pixels can turn off, so while they might not have the highest nit level, they have better contrast than even the best FALD display.

Ultra HD Premium designation has two separate categories. One for LCD and one for OLED, since they have different tech:

LCD = Peak brightness to be more than 1,000 nits with a black level of less than 0.05 nits

OLED = Peak brightness to be 540 nits with a black level of less than 0.0005 nits

The LG lcd tvs suck big time, they use IPS panels and have horrible black levels and aren't bright at all, they do not meet the criteria for lcd hdr. Hdr on those tvs is very poor.

The oleds have their own special criteria to be certified, which is 540 nits and .0005 black level, all 2016 oleds pass this, they are actually 700-750 nits. For comparison, the vizio P series is only 550 nits, while the LG lcd tvs are around 450. The oleds are much brighter than those tvs.

Very good points....And FYI, I just got my very first OLED TV yesterday
Needless to say, I was up late and had to still drag myself to work this morning, waiting to get back home to pick up where I left off. There are still a few things that I was not able to figure out that had been driving me kookoo all night LOL

@ray0414, actually LG developed a new IPS panel they are using for the 2016 UH8500 and UH9500 flagship Super UHD TVs. Interestingly LG named it the "Tru Black Panel" with "ULTRA Luminance" and a new integrated video processor. I'm impressed with the improvement in peak luminance and MLL, specifically with LG's new true 10-bit UH9500 IPS panel.

The new processor has algorithms that apply the unused luminance from low picture level areas to boost the high luminance areas of the image.

With all this said, I still prefer the Vertically Aligned LCD displays, but this year LG stepped up the game on IPS technology and if you need good off axes viewing this is a good choice for a 4K 2016 that supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision HDR.

Here are some UHD Bluray screen shots on an uncalibrated E6. Default HDR picture mode settings except for sharpness and edge enhancements which were turned off.

Congrats ^^ and enjoy!

I took a G6 home and we're in the process of upgrading our bedroom 65EF9500 for the 65" B6. Can't have enough new 4K OLED TVs.

On a side note, up to today I had only watched 3D with IR active glasses. The passive 3D on the Oled is way way better and doesnt make my eyes hurt after 10 minutes of viewing. I was also surprised to find out that I can pretty much watch any 2D content in 3D and the Oled does a pretty good job at adding that extra depth even on generic streaming titles

For any of you guys who are LG Oled users, do you have Simplink available in your Audio settings? This particualr tool seems to be necessary in order to get HDMI Audio Out through HDMI ARC connection if you have a Home Theater. I am having some issues with it.

I think I turned that on, I'm trying to get ARC working and can't.

It seems like the ONLY way to use ARC is by setting Simplink on, but that is triggering my BD player to turn itself on when I dont want to to turn it on while watching TV...really strange

I have the same issue with my K8500 too, it turns itself on and also sometimes will switch my inputs when i try to activate the apps on on TV.

The only way I can avoid this is by disabling Simplink, but that also results in no more HDMI Audio Out when I play the apps on TV.

sorry if this has been explained. Been out of the forums for a very long time, just now back. But what are the core differences between the B6, C6, E6 and G6.

It is my understanding that the E6 and G6 are identical other than the soundbar size.

But what about the B6 and the C6? Will I be losing out on too much by getting the cheaper models versus the E6?

I am dying to have an OLED 4k TV. But I cannot afford a $8 G6. $3 to $4k tops.
