The curve is very slight, barely noticeable

The only problem is, the way my living room is currently set up. If I have more than 3 people watching a movie, they'll be watching from the sides of the TV. I don't know how that will work with the TV being curved.

Still can't decide between the 65inch C6 or the 55inch E6.... If only I could afford the 65inch C6 right now. Then life would be complete. lol

I would look first to the curve as a possible culprit. It can diminish some reflections but greatly enhance others (i.e. especially if they're off to a wider angle).

Penguin, get the 65" CP. Good BDs look as good or better on it than on cinema screens even sitting up real close.

The curve actually makes the TV look even bigger. Also if you're sitting on the sides, it actually helps makes the far away side of the panel be closer and look bigger to the person watching from the side, instead of the screen getting smaller going "away" in perspective as flat screens do:

flatpanelfronthside.jpg
Flat panel seen from the left

OLED has a wider viewing angle too.

About the "brightness" variations between panels, models, from what I've seen on review's numbers, they amount to about 1/3rd of an F/stop in variation (like minimally changing the film/camera ISO/shutter speed from 125 to 160, or the aperture from F2.8 to F2.5) so I wouldn't fixate on that.

If you open a new Best Buy card you can get 10% of the price in rewards points to buy lots of UHD movies or stuff so it's like a 10% discount in the long run. Biggest 10% item discount you'll buy in BB in a long while too maybe.

curves create motion artifact problems and hot spots in center. Stick with the flat panel. Google it and read why curved tv's are not recommended. We saw it for ourselves a few years ago at Robert's last in store shootout. Both the LG and the then Samsung OLED tv's had similar issues.

Scheduled appointment with LG to come inspect the panel for 3D issues. Didn't know that I was on a 3- month VIP warranty. If technician finds panel to be faulty I can have it replaced, which is great news

Speaking of Black Friday pricing, what is a realistic price one might expect to see for the 65" B6 at that time? Could $3,500 or less be a possibility?

Thank you guys so much for your inputs. You guys just confirmed everything I was pondering. I read about the motion artifacts but what is a hot spot in the center? And for those of you who own a C6, I read somewhere that someone was watching the Olympics and the curvature of the screen made the pool lines seem way off. Any input?

I actually went to HH Gregg and Bestbuy last night to see these TVs in person. I loved the way the C6 looked. I thought it looked better than the E series. Very thin with a slight curve. I even tried viewing the TV from far away angels to see how it would look. Had no problems with that. And maybe it was the way Bestbuy had their TVs set up. But I noticed while all the LGs were running the same slides that the E6's colors looked bolder than the C6. Which brought me back to square one. To be honest though, I am leaning for quality over size.

I'm gonna pull the trigger on a 65" B6 at the end of September. My credit card offers 60 day Price protection and I confirmed that they will match Black Friday Prices.

hot spot showed when screen was blank. The center glowed white in the middle of the curve while the rest of the screen remained dark. it was like a flashlight effect on an LED/LCD panel.

have you seen the Clint Eastwood movie.THE TROUBLE WITH THE CURVE..LOL.

Best to go with the better panel than the curve. The curve is nothing more than a gimmick and provides nothing to improve the picture. In fact, it does the opposite.

The curve does not improve or worsen anything at all. In my case I think I just have an issue with the filter for 3D viewing so at times objects on screen appear misaligned. Friday it will be inspected and the return process will begin. That means returning the TV and wait to receive a new one.
Hope next one won't have this issue as 3D is big deal to me

I don't see any motion artifacts and hot spots.
Why would a "curve" in a panel cause motion artifacts, are the pixels running faster down the curve like winter olympic bobsleds? :>

That sounds like the vignetting of the 2015 models both flat and curved.

I also don't see a hot spot here.

curvedwhite.jpg

OLEDs don't have a lightbulb or an optical lens/sytem to concentrate light anywhere nor the curve is going to pump more light to the center like a concave lens. If the panel is working properly light emitted by the pixels should be even, that's one of the advantages of OLED, in that the light output at different angles is uniform and more or less independent of the angle you view it, that's why it can easily do concave and convex screens or even wavy ones for displays, and contrast doesn't go grey when you watch from the sides like on LCDs

Also according to LG panel quality is the same across the line.

I totally disagree with that.

I think the advantages of the slight curve, specially when it gives you the feeling you're watching the best UA-150 70mm curved screens of yore trumps anything else under the sun.

Very good post. I think when Cinemascope first came out way back when the use of a curved screen was implemented

So I just saw an inside look at the 2017 W series! It has a magnet wall mount and the tv literally bends and peels off of it! Very cool stuff, no specs or anything yet but the look is really amazing.
