I don't watch 3D much..I should as I own quite a few movies in 3D.

I agree it is much more enjoyable at home. Some movies are done better than others so depending it can be a lot of fun or just so so. That is not the technology's fault but the film maker's.

Saw a demo of it and i can't really see the 3D effect with my eyes. Does nothing for me. Black leves are sure good i can say that. I bet SPACE1999 on Bluray would look great like it does on my 60vt60.

4k does nothing on these smaller sets unless you are a foot from the screen. I am happy with 720p or 1080p.

Saw it on a OLED at the store and don't see the 3D effect with my eyes.

Ironically 3D is the opposite. If you watch from too up close you get crossed images

I remember watching a 3d tv for the first time like 7 years ago. I was at the mall, stopped by the Sony store. They had a video of Tiger Woods playing golf. The way the camera was set up, it made it seem like you were part of the audience. Other people were 3d all around me and I said to myself wow, this is the coolest thing ever. Shortly after that, I was in the market for a 3d tv.

I am not a die hard fan of plasma like you are. But I've owned two plasmas, the most recent one being a gt60. The picture was good but I had nothing but problems with it since the first month in. Had 3 tech visits to supposedly fix it. Amazon was great enough to accept the return a year in. Bought a Samsung led and didn't notice any pq difference. And it has never given me issues to this day.

My oled will arrive Tuesday. So I guess I'll keep you posted on whether it was worth the $5k or not.

I was a diehard plasma fiend before OLED, though. And Tiger Woods in 3D is hardly the sole attraction of 3D content. The film, Everest, of late was amazing.

So much hate for Tiger Woods. Lol this was like 7 years ago. It blew my mind. And I saw Everest in 3d too. I didn't find it amazing... it was good though.

I'm not ever paying 5k for a tv again. Did it for years to have the lastest and greatest only to sell for a great loss a year later to buy the next best.

Now 5k is nothing for a telescope and i will spend whatever it takes for one i really want.
This is my new 500lb telescope mount project.

I don't ever sell anything so I never even take into account resell value. I have 6 cars sitting because I refuse to sell. Lol

But this is my first time ever buying the latest and greatest shortly after release. But with all these stellar reviews, I couldn't help myself. I don't think I'll be disappointed.

What's the latest firmware on the 55C6? I think it should be 04.30.04 but my system has not updated yet and I am ethernet-connected to my internet provider

Best 1080 panel in my opinion. I sold mine on Amazon for $1200 back in june.
The allure of 4K HDR/Dolby Vision on Oled got the best of me

it's a good deal for those on a budget and want to get an OLED.No bells and whistles and 4K...but if none of that matters to you it's a smart move to grab one while the deal lasts. Heck you could even get a price match at Best Buy.

update:
Smart tv with wifi
3D capable

Except at bestbuy you have to pay tax. That's the one reason I always go to amazon for big purchases. It's 10% here in new orleans. When you buy a $5k tv, that's $500!

I rely more on Robert of VE or Chris of Extreme Electronics, for big purchases
