Sully 4K Blu-ray

It looks like this one is getting a 4K theater treatment. According to Deluxe this film has a 4K DCP trailer coming out which is almost a guarantee the full movie is being released in 4K theatrically as well.

For those uninformed, it follows the true story of Captain 'Sully' Sullenberger and the 'Miracle on the Hudson' water-landing in 2009 saving all 155 passengers. Directed by Clint Eastwood.

Doing a cursory glance it looks like it was filmed with an Alexa 65 (6K), Alexa's IMAX camera, and has a 4K DI. No word on VFX resolution yet, my guess is 2K and there will be only used for window replacement and the final landing scene. --EDIT 10/9/16-- VFX was completed in 4K.

Curious to know if it will be released in scope (2.35) or 1.90

Dolby Atmos is a guarantee

Almost certainly 2.40:1 on Blu-ray, I doubt we'll get the 1.90:1 AR but I'd love to be wrong on this one. Hopefully will see the movie this week, maybe tomorrow.

You know, the more I hear about this film, the more I want to get it. I definitely will look into getting this when it comes out on UHD.

I would probably rent it first. If you don't like by-the-book procedurals then you might not like this particular film.

Is Sully worth watching in theaters? I almost never see dramas in theaters but I'm debating on Sully because of the IMAX ratio. (I have to decide quick because it leaves IMAX tomorrow).

Also, I searched for a dedicated Sully movie thread, it could find one.

100% yes. The IMAX ratio really makes this a truly immersive movie even during simple dialogue sequences. Loved it!

According to Warner Bros Netherlands the 4K UHD Blu-ray & Blu-ray will not contain IMAX aspect ratio.

This movie felt very paint-by-numbers for me. I don't think I really want to see it again. Continually replaying the crash (probably 7 times, no joke) started to get annoying after awhile.
