are actual journalists seriously predicting a $1B haul in NA? $2.7B worldwide gross isn't happening, more like $2B or maybe a hair more.

Avatar had a perfect storm and didn't have Civil War, B v S and Apocalypse coming in the late winter and the spring to slow it down substantially.

It did have Alice in Wonderland in early March 2010, followed by How to Train Your Dragon and Clash of the Titans, all of which did huge numbers at the box office.

Well, by the time Alice opened to $116M, Avatar was down to 5th place with $8M, having made $13M in 4th place the week before, so while it still had legs, it had seriously begun to wither at the box office when March came around...

When has March and May been Late Winter and Spring, Star Wars will be out of most theatres by that point unless it's repeated business is insane.

TFA is going to break records, I'm sure of it. Altogether I'd say it'll gross around $2 billion worldwide, and I hope it beats Avatar.
