I wouldnt mind Han Solo just dying of natural causes rather than the need to kill off a character by some bad guy.

And if Han dies, Carrie Fisher will have a chance to emote - her reaction to her planet getting destroyed in A New Hope was not too emotional.

We never saw her reaction; the movie cuts from Alderaan's explosion to Luke's training on the Falcon.

Didn't they INTENTIONALLY release spoilers Darth Vader told Luke in ESB that Obi-Wan was his father before the movie came out? I'm hoping this is like one of those spoilers.

If Han were to die then Leia would lose the will to live...I see where this could be headed.

Quite right! But we've all seen the unused clip where she says:

"...and you call yourselves humans..."

Come up with your own theories as to why it wasn't used, but the cut made in the movie was the right choice.

I think it was originally filmed as Obi-Wan killed his father to preserve the secret.

It was, in the behind the scenes on the SE DVD's, only Lucas, Kirshner, Hamill, and James Earl-Jones knew. I remember him explaining his reaction as he was reading Vaders lines. He was like is this for real, OMG wow.

And of course, such secrecy was blown out of the water when Prowse accidentally opened his mouth to the press just before the release saying along the lines of: "I had no idea that Vader was really Luke Skywalkers' father". I thought it was Obi-Wan...

Things between Prowse and Lucas were rather frosty from that point on...

More Possible Details On 'Luke Skywalker' In STAR WARS: EPISODE VII

As always, just rumors, but you might want to skip this if you want to avoid (possible) details.

Quote:
"From what I’ve been told, Luke hasn’t been missing for a full 30 years, only about 10, with his early time post-RETURN OF THE JEDI being spent rebuilding the Jedi Order. Yeah, Luke had some things to do, in order to help get things back on track after the fall of the Empire. In addition, he has grown so powerful with his command of the Force that he can literally move mountains or bring down ships with merely a glance. But then Luke begins to feel a disturbance in the Force… and starts to feel the lure of the Dark Side. If word about the Emperor’s resurgence is true, I believe his presence and desire to court young Skywalker once again is the root of this new evil. Because he knows just what a danger he would be if successfully convinced to switch sides, Luke goes into a self-imposed exile and disappears."

And where does he disappear to? Apparently it's Yoda's old stomping grounds, Dagobah, where the late Jedi Master first trained Luke. According to the site, this is where he'll be reunited with his lighsaber by some old and new friends.

sounds like a rumor but i do like the ideas of luke rebuilding the jedi order , becoming powerful but at the same time with this time lapse and luke more powerful he would wipe the floor with the emperor. thanks for the post cant wait till we get official details

I like this idea; having Leia and Han seek out Luke after ten years of exile would be a very interesting twist. Leia could communicate with him through Force meditation, but it would be the first time Han or anyone else saw him in person for a while.

If that's true, then I totally called it (last sentence): https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=6891

[Show spoiler]Okay, so the 'Sith heritage' bit might not be so accurate, but the gist is clear: Luke knows how much power he wields and how terrible that power that might be if it were to be corrupted (kinda like Gandalf refusing the Ring in LOTR) so he goes into hiding. [edit] Which he's happy to do once he's trained up the new Jedi because they can look after themselves, but when this big new threat emerges they can't deal with it so they need to find Luke.
