Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (USE SPOILER TAGS!)

What I haven't not gotten is, it was pretty much announced that Mark Hamil was shooting scenes for Episode 8 out on Skelig Island with Daisy Rey. Doesn't that all but seal the deal that both are still on the light side? I don't get why people are still questioning what side luke turns too. By the end of the movie Luke saves Rey and takes her in to become a jedi.

I would say that it depends on how it's handled.

Good way: Boromir's death in LOTR
Bad Way: Kirk's death in Generations.

If Han were to die (and I'm not at all sure he will, whenever SW kills off a big hero it is in their first appearance as the risk goes up with an established character) I would be upset either way. But if it is handled well, I could still love the movie, but if handled poorly (not even thinking of Kirk's death but more like Cyclops in X-Men: The Last Stand or Hicks in Alien 3, though those deaths were undone later) it could ruin the movie for me.

That never hit me. You're right.
Though, with ANH, it wasn't in his first appearance...from a certain point of view.

But, yes. Someone dies in the first and third films. I'd be ok with it if it's Chewbacca. However, any of the human characters and I just may lose it. I don't know how it could be possible that Han would die and people would be remotely ok with it.

I know it is still just rumors but Luke turning to the dark side would for me be the equivalent of Alien 3. Basically ruining what came before...unless you just pretend it never happened like I do.

As for one of the main characters having to die I have to roll my eyes. This is Star Wars, it is supposed to be fun and not some dark and depressing DC film where it has to be edgy.

Yoda's death wasn't dark or edgy at all. He dies peacefully in his bed at an extremely old age of 900 years old (and I think that is very different from killing a character off violently)

The Yoda picture was in response to his comment about main characters dying. The Anakin picture was in response to the dark and depressing comment.

I predict that someone in this trilogy will at some point turn to the dark side.

The cool thing is that this time it will be a surprise. Can you imagine the effect Anakin's transition would have had on the audience if we didn't know it was coming?

It's Star WARS. Which part of WARS don't you get? Yes, war should be so much fun. Entire worlds destroyed? Fun. Step-parents burnt to a crisp? Fun. Slavery? Fun. Thousands if not millions dead? Fun. Mass murder of Jedi children? Lots of fun.

Of course a main character should die. Many main characters have died in this series. War means loss and if you're going to tell any war story that has the slightest iota of credibility, there has to be loss.
