Again...bullpoop. Moooo. *splat!*
I'm with Adam on this as I've heard it too, I thought it was common knowledge.

But the point is NOT that the entire climax of the film was manufactured out of thin air - which is the impression that people are getting - it's that the countdown to the Death Star blowing up Yavin was added to ramp up the tension. So the rebels still launch their fighters at the approaching Death Star with the intention of destroying it, Han and Luke still speak beforehand (note the jauntier tone of the Luke and Biggs scene) etc etc. But those final beats of the Death Star preparing to fire while everyone in the rebel command centre doesn't seem too bothered were spliced in after the fact.

I think I'm going to try a 9 am showing Friday morning. I wouldn't imagine it'll be that busy then.

Default on the Prequel Bandwagon

Having just revisited the prequels this past weekend of which I haven't watched in a few years my take is that the character development is lost. The meeting and introduction of all the characters is forced (no pun) and therefore you cannot relate nor give a hoot who lives or dies. Essentially we kinda already know the fate of certain characters therefore the dramatic emotional pull isn't there. The overall look of the prequels is spectacular and bright. Certainly by the time we get to Episode's IV-V-VI things are a much darker tone. It will be interesting to see how these contrasts will be seen in the sequel trilogy.

One thing is for certain since the expanded universe is not cannon, this sequel trilogy will all be new and blindsides revealed, much like the I am your Father was in 1980 with Empire. We can all speculate and continue to do so as the fate of the old guard (Luke, Leia & Han) and new guard (Rey, Finn & Poe) will play out over the course of the final trilogy about the Skywalker family.

Not going to give away any spoilers, but the movie is great. I love the Original Trilogy with all my heart and The Force Awakens is up there among TESB and ROTJ. I can't wait for Rogue One.

Ahh...PM me anyway.
I will make a spoiler free review right now.

My initial reaction (start it at 13 seconds) :

I believe that due to this, the next installments are going to be very impressive.

I just think Disney actually made something good for once. No regrets.

Hey, bro, would you edit your post and delete my quote? Call it paranoia, but I feel like I gave to much away in that. You quoted me before I could delete it.

Going to see it Thursday at 7pm hopefully, at a non-chain theater where less traffic frequents for popular movies.

Despite the fact that Kathleen Kennedy was handpicked by Lucas to replace him (as head of Lucasfilm) before Lucas sold the company to Disney, unfortunately fans will view any perceived missteps as Disney's fault just because Lucas isn't running the show anymore.

Sure, Kennedy does have full control of Lucasfilm and doesn't report to Studios Production president Sean Bailey, but she still reports to Horn and Iger (who both largely tend to let their division heads make decisions without much interference). With the new films being produced, things at Lucasfilm would need to change anyway regardless of who owns Lucasfilm (such as the expanded universe no longer canon). Still, you'll always have unhappy fans quick to blame Disney first.

What has been seen cannot be unseen.
[Show spoiler]I presume the character you were referencing was played by a person whose name rhymes with Nark Gammil?
