He hasn't seen the film. He's just thread crapping. He actually voted in the poll and gave it a 1 just to, in his own words, "just bringing down expectations." Some of his other posts clearly indicate that he has a negative view of this film. The perfect "thread-crapping" specimen.

Exactly. The movie is as good as the Original Trilogy, and has more movies to come.

My opinion runs counter to your own, so the only thing you can think up are childish insults.

You CONSTANTLY insult people around here who don't like the prequels or special editions!

And speaking of which (and I've already asked you this 3 times), why are you even here at all? I thought they banned you. It reminds me of this:

I was lucky to use my movie contact and catch this movie a few days early. I was able to watch it last night at about 1am. It was just me and a few of the theater staff. We watched it to make sure the theater was 'working'.

This wasn't an Imax or 3d print of the film, so I will give my complete thoughts after watching that on the weekend.

I am not a Star Wars snob however here are my ratings for the original movies(even after re-watching them a week ago):

Ep 1 - 2/5

Ep 2 - 1.5/5

Ep 3 - 4/5

Ep 4 - 4/5

Ep 5 - 5/5

Ep 6 - 4/5

My rating for Ep 7 would be 4/5 as well after one 'tired' viewing.

It felt like a Star Wars movie. From the opening scene I was in to what was going on and had some very interesting story telling.

One thing that caught me off guard(in a good way) was the amount of surprises. I would say that this is a 'modern' Star Wars in that there are a lot of queues from other popular movies that really surprise the audience.

The biggest positive for me was how epic this movie is. It felt like Return of the Jedi on steroids a lot of the time... yet did have some key moments of dialogue to calm things down. I think I would have got more out of this movie if it was 'Imax'.

I am tempted to talk about plot and other such things however even with spoiler tags, I think people would be ticked off.

Biggest negative? I actually would almost say Williams' score. It was great at times however... maybe there was too much going on the screen or I was too focused with my eyes(or the theater wasn't tuned)... not sure. It just didn't have grand piece in my memory like Dual of Fates, or Battle of Heroes. Even the love theme in EP 2 was grand in comparison... at least from what I noticed.

One thing is for sure, I want more. Rey and Finn were big surprises to me. The story arc was great.

I think overall I am just blown away in too many ways. It isn't my movie of the year, but it was very good(I was very tired when I watched it so maybe that added to my lack of love --- or my expectations were too high). I can't wait to watch it again in a full theater on a proper screen.

[Show spoiler]One thing is for sure is BB-8 didn't turn into Jar Jar. I thought he was my favourite character, which surprised me.

I would rate it better than the prequel movies, so from that perspective it was refreshing.

EDIT - I wanted to say that I didn't find the movie as funny as I wanted to find it. It wasn't forced but I think it felt very serious(which I liked). The final scene in the movie was very good... maybe the best of the original 6. The very final moment before credits kind of took my breath away...

EDIT 2 - I also wanted to say that I did get goosebumps and felt giddy like I did when I was a kid... so I guess from that stand point, everyone is going to love it that already loves Star Wars. 'nough said.

[Show spoiler]BB-8 was a gem. A real gem.

Contrary to your opinion, I thought Williams' score in this film was phenomenal. While at times it didn't have the panache of some of his previous SW work, the guy is still a master of his craft and I felt he really delivered in this one.

I agree with you. The problem is I guess I wanted more. I have had Star Wars playing in my home since I was 4 years old. I just didn't hear a new melody that I have to hear over and over.

I will say that I felt the same way for some other movie scores in the past and changed my mind.

I guess I was just hoping for that 'Interstellar' type scene of pure emotion from the music. I dunno... again, I was tired.

Well it kind of goes against the revisionist history that George Lucas hasn't ever written anything good.

But wooden dialogue is kind of the hallmark of these films.

That's actually where they find Luke half way through The Force Awakens. He's been at Tosche Station the whole time waiting for them to restock the power converters.
