In the Disney Infinity: Star Wars video game, Jar Jar is indeed in a carbonite block on Jabbas Palace wall. This is where he belongs. Someone finally managed to shut him up. This also counts as canon, it is a Disney game and has yet to be disputed by any other media. So as it stands right now, he is an ice block!

It's not like either of them want to raid the Government coffers so they could do drugs, buy condos around the galaxy or purchase a luxury yacht and be jet setters. And if one doesn't ignore the PT, there's even less reason: after Anakin discovers his wife is dead and Palpatine laughs at him, there's no rational reason for him to follow the Emperor with the possible exceptions that the Emperor's technology is keeping him alive and he's got nowhere else to go.

Hopefully, character motivations in this new film are more clearly worked out.

That's like asking "So why does Dr. Evil want to take over the world?" Because he's a bad guy in a movie with written personal problems, not a real life overlord like Hitler.

Kylo is evil because his dad taught his adopted brother how to fish. Can't have that, he had to kill his dad and fake his death. Obviously, because that's a FANASTIC character motivation.

I can tell you from experience that when you create something and then either leave the job where you created it or sell it to someone else, you never stop thinking of those creations like you think of your children. And when someone else "messes" with those creations, you tend to think they're going to hurt them. I'm sure that George sold the company because he was tired of all the criticism and because he didn't have an appropriate heir to take it over, but I bet there have been days when he's regretted doing so.

There's usually a "no disparagement" clause, at least for a number of years, although maybe not in Lucas' case because he did seem to be bashing the Disney people a bit in recent interviews. But at least he got invited to the premiere and he seemed to have at least some control because I read a report that he invited people in the street into the theater.

If you haven't seen the film yet (have you?), I don't know how you could state that Lucas would have taken the series in a more interesting direction. And even if you have seen it, were the Prequels taken in a more interesting direction? It's not like he couldn't have made another Star Wars film while he still owned the company. I think he didn't because after the prequel-bashing, his heart wasn't in it. In fact, his heart doesn't seem to be in making any more movies at all. He had a story credit on "Strange Magic". How did that go? Personally, I think he's lost any mojo he once had.

But if he ever gets it back, I think in a few years, Disney maybe can let him direct or produce one of the Star Wars Universe movies.
