The prequel hate thiing turned into a bandwagon movement. And Jar Jar was the posterchild for the bandwagon.

My experience was that people instantly did not like phantom menace, and felt that the prequels increased in quality after that but never reached the quality of the OT.

No, but I'm pretty sure I can hear how loud the audience was cheering and applauding throughout the screenings. Notice how I'm not saying that "everyone in the audience had this look on their face" kind of stuff, because I don't know that and neither do you. Hundreds of people in a theater and you somehow know what all of them are thinking. It's a talent, I guess.

Just saw the film, and... Abrams didn't just do a good job, he essentially hit it out of the ball park! Writing my review on Letterboxd as we speak, but I can already say, in my book it's just behind Empire for the title of the best film in the franchise! Yes, even better than A New Hope IMO!

Broke my leg and had to get a refund on my Thursday ticket (it was out of town at an Alamo drafthouse and we had a whole day planned). I'm actually recovering from surgery faster than I thought I would, so I booked tickets for Friday at 1:30 at a local theater. Hoping it won't be too crazy around that time. Kind of bummed about missing the Alamo drafthouse though because I had the exclusive magazine and mondo pint glass ordered.
