Who the hell is he? Where does he come from? Not Endor, not Hoth, not Tatoonie, not Coruscant, not Naboo, not any of the worlds we have seen on film. I am sure the answer is out there, elusive for us to find out in VIII or IX.

Does he wield a lightsaber? How did Palpatine not see Snoke as a threat?

Can anyone here answer that?

Also, Rey.

That bothered me too. Can someone explain what happened after RotJ? How does the losing side of the war have enough resources to build something that size? Even more disturbing is how the winning side (i.e., the Rebels) appears to have very few resources and allows the First Order to build something of that magnitude..???

LOL!

True. But this is not the Force I grew up with. It's like going from Windows 3.1 to Windows 10.

I don't think I've EVER seen The Phantom Menace ranked ahead of Empire Strikes Back!!!
My new order

Attack of the Clones
Return of the Jedi
Revenge of the Sith
A new Hope
Phantom Menace
Empire strikes back
The Force Awakens

My favorite moments are really small character moments which shows how well they were written

[Show spoiler]
- Rey scavenging.
When they dismiss a ship as garbage and when the camera pans and you see it's the Falcon. That whole scene was awesome.
- "I can do this" "I can do this"
- BB-8 nodding to the tool Finn can't find
- Kylo doing a tantrum and destroying the console
- Chewie's bowcaster. 'Nuff said!
- Solo blindly shooting stormtroopers on his side
- Poe destroying 5 Tie Fighters in one camera pan
- Rey mind controlling the stormtrooper.
- I love Luke look at the end. And am glad he didn't say anything. I felt everything was explained in his expression.

Remember when the Star Wars galaxy was small? Tatoonie, Yavin IV, Alderaan, Hoth, Bespin, Dagobah, Endor and then it was expanded (in the movies) to Naboo, Mustafar, Coruscant, Genenosis, Kamino, Kashyyyk, and Utapau?

Now we have D'Qar, Hosnian Prime, Jakku, Takodana...

for the rest you can find them here at http://www.swgalaxymap.com/

From what I understand from the "Aftermath" book, after ROTJ, the Republic rose again and Mon Mothma decide to demiliterized it. The Resistance was created by General Organa who was opposed to this. As for the Empire, in Aftermath they attempt a meeting with remaining Moffs and leaders and it turns bad and "someone" (Snoke?) tells them to go in the Outer Rims to regroup (where I assume they grew as the First Order. That's just what I've heard at least.

This movie demonstrated how poor some of the the dialogue was in the prequel's.

For anyone who still hasn't seen it yet(like me), here's a really comprehensive NON-SPOILER review that I loved and highly recommend reading before venturing out to the theaters. I discovered it while searching for opinions on the film that wouldn't crush my virginal experience in general. It's awesome and informative, without giving away anything at all...and it gives you a great handle on what to expect in a detailed way.

The Snoke track on the OST sounds exactly like the music playing during
[Show spoiler]the Darth Plagueis scene in Revenge of the Sith
. Coincidence?

I haven't seen the movie yet but is the Lucasfilm fanfare the same one used for the digital releases?

Just go to Chipotle beforehand or afterwards. That's what I do. All my friends get on my case about being a cheapskate, but I'm not. I simply choose to spend my money on a good meal rather than a crappy box of stale popcorn and carbonated soda.

May be deleted scene. Or probably just filmed for the trailer since it matches with what Luke says.

Right, but there was no reason it couldn't have been the actual handoff shot from the film. It caused a lot of incorrect speculation about who was giving the saber to whom, and why.

I'm going to copy/pasta what I sent my friend on facebook this morning regarding my one beef with the film:

[Show spoiler]So I was thinking today as I was getting ready for work that the one thing that pissed me off was Rey knowing Jedi mind tricks with no formal training but then I had this theory...Isn't the scene with Snoke where he says "there has been an awaken..." AFTER Rey picks up the Saber for the first time and has all the visions. Is it possible she was trained previously but forgot it all due to her age of when she learned and living on Jakku for so long. Maybe the awakening was her knowledge of the force? Like it all came back to her in that moment and that's what Snoke felt. I mean the film still did a piss poor job of explaining that if that's the case but I expect a lot of dialogue from Luke in 8 that is going to tie up a lot of loose ends. I feel like this was bound to be a lose/lose situation for a lot of people. There was two options going into this film: giving you a decent film with not a lot of backstory, or giving you a film that was just backstory and/or character development. I am quite ok with it being the first option. Again, I have to emphasize that ANH did't tell you anything about who anyone was. In a sense both stories told you the same. In ANH we knew nothing about Vader but a little about Luke, in TFA we know a little about Kylo Ren (who his parents are) and nothing about Rey (other than her growing up on a desert planet). I think people are being too critical of the missing backstory of some of these characters. It took us two whole movies to find out who Vader was and 3 films to show you his backstory.
