I liked Maul. They killed him off too quickly. Everything you said about Kylo is spot on. He does seem like a whiny emo kid. Hopefuly they plan on building him up. I'd enjoy watching him become public enemy #1 over the next trilogy than have multiple villains inserted.

Yeah I mean thats my #1 problem Driver he delivers the lines perfect, but Driver to me can nail that emo pouty I'm special too role, and thats not what I wanted growing up with Vader, growing up with Maul... They carried themselves sooooo different.

So when Kylo kills people or acts bad a$$ with sith powers instead of coming off menacing or oh SNAP he's awesome!! [While its all still cool and I loved what they did power/story wise], it just comes off as a "Ha! I do this because I can with my sweet powers" and if I don't win I pout lol.

There is formula and there is a remake. The Force Awakens runs closer to a remake. The Phantom Menace does not. Attack of the Clones does not. Revenge of the Sith does not. There are small callbacks and some mirroring, but it does not follow the story of a previous entry beat for beat.

James Bond is a bit different because each film, up until the Craig films, are their own entity and don't relate to previous films, so the formula works with deviations here and there.

Fury Road, aside from being a chase movie, is very different from the previous films, both visually and from a story and subtext standpoint.

I'm sure if I combed all our old threads from back discussing PT... I'm sure I'd have had the same complaint with how they wrote him in the PT. This awesome god who would become Vader, whining about training, or seeing Namoi Campbell lol

I was prepared to be disappointed by the movie, but I thought it was fantastic, and Adam Driver and his Kylo Ren were the best thing about the new characters.

It's funny. Everything that some people don't like about Kylo Ren is exactly what makes him an interesting, flawed villain.

[Show spoiler]He has more power than Vader, but less control over himself. That's a scary combination. Vader would force choke an admiral to set an example. Ren's the kind of guy who would force choke the chef because his mashed potatoes were lumpy.

I guess that's true they've always kinda established these Jedis as babies from Luke whining about going in his speedo to having to share crop with uncle Owen another season...

I'll reserve final judgement on it till I see the whole story...

Bottom line even with my personal flaws I'll watch it again and again and loved it.

Wish I had a kid to experience it with the way I got to experience the OT and some of the PT when I was little.
