Question for those who have seen it. Is it worth seeing in Liemax 3D or should I just go see it in regular 2D.

I'm even thinking about buying one of those goofy remote-controlled BB-8s.

What am I, freaking twelve?

How does that apply to the re-releases years later when the population had expanded, should those dollars be downgraded in importance? It's all starting to get a bit finicky in here.

Which leads me to:

That's why I keep saying it's mightily impressive in its own right! If TFA sneaks into the adjusted top 10 alongside a bunch of movies that have had plenty of theatrical re-releases (even Titanic had that stellar 3D run) then I fail to see how that can be downplayed. Yeah, it's got a Disney 3D premium as someone mentioned above but let's not pretend that Lucasfilm alone would've been angels about it, they themselves have negotiated some VERY hard deals over the years (wasn't it Sith where they kept the entirety of the first one or two weeks of box office takings?). How about we call that premium equivalent to one re-release (if it were old-school) then call it quits?
Hey, I wasn't trying to downplay the box office success of modern blockbusters, just saying the oldies did have their own set of "disadvantages" compared to now which counter-balances things a little bit. But I agree the times have changed enough that it's difficult to really compare them fairly.

Too bad folks can't wake up and see that they simply remade the first movie. I guess the 3D and D-BOX effects made folks not give a crap about the story. Mindless eye candy. I think I'll watch THE REVENANT or THE HATEFUL 8 so I could see something with substance. I'm bored to hell with STAR WARS and all the yacking about it

It is definitely worth watching in a real IMAX - the kind with a screen that is 6-7 stories tall. Otherwise you are better off with a regular 2D showing, at least it won't set you back as much.

Yeah, that is too bad. I mean, I really liked it and want to see it again and again.

Sucks to be me, I guess.

Yeah I forgot A New Hope opens with the
[Show spoiler] empire invading a desert planet and massacring a village for the location of Luke Skywalker.
Since the Force Awakens is just a rehash after all.

I also love when people complain about how derivative something is and then say 'I'm going to go watch a Tarantino movie instead'.

I mean, I love Tarantino but come on.

Not surprised. But I'm not sure how this could be nominated for production design, they just reuse old designs with some new paints.

The Force Awakens has now an Official Music Video...

Lucasfilm has named LuHan, a former boy-band singer from Beijing, as the “official China Ambassador for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” This means LuHan, a self-described “social media star,” has recorded a brand new Star Wars theme song with the requisite music video, complete with cameos by R2-D2 and BB-8.

No. Frankly that would just be stupid expanded universe "comic book" level story telling.

I think it would be unlikely, he was pretty much kitty litter after Return of the Jedi ...

I do wonder where he got those horrendous scars from? they weren't from his fight with Obi-Wan and they would have had to go through his helmet when he was Vader.

And just how elitist is it to recognize reality? If you look not just at TFA, but all of the movies that tend to become BO hits, the reality of it seems like a pretty unescapable conclusion. But there doesn't necessarily have to be something wrong with that. More demanding viewers tend to find more rewarding / challenging material in the small screen, simply because more sophisticated fare is better suited to TV economics, studios are more risk-averse than ever and want to finance a sure thing, whenever possible.

And I don't think there is anything wrong with enjoying mass entertainment either... I wasn't putting down anybody for finding mass entertainment to be, well, entertaining.
