I've always felt bad for the Yarna action figure by the way - hers is the one Star Wars action figure that no one ever buys.

I was at Toys R Us and Wal-Mart the other day and that's the only figure left.

Yeah, I'd hate for a religion devoted to peace, understanding, and the defense of democracy opened up to everybody. Better that it's a freak of genetics, like the NBA.

I'm sure there a followers of the Force who cannot utilize it. It just shouldn't make everyone who believes it to be a "super human".

I like the idea but the execution wasn't fully developed ... reminds me of the Science vs Religion debate

Even though that is quite comical, the reason or one of the reasons I liked PM is that Anakin was a little prick from the get-go. The demeanor never changed. Luke was different, naive yes but not a doosh.

I'd say that Leah was more like her father than Luke and Luke more like her mother. If anyone went dark...its that Princess.

even if she's more like her father, that doesn't make her in any way dark. That's like if my father killed someone (not that he did and tried to hide it) and then I would be blamed as well

She does in the EU. Don't know what happened after there, I kinda stopped reading...

uh...no. You didn't see Tarkin or Lando force choking everyone in the OT, did you? You're either born with the ability to use it, or you're not. No need for DNA samples to confirm it. Lame shit.

Yeah I think Lucas realized it was a mistake which is probably why we don't hear about them at all after Episode I. Episode I was basically 1 long kiddie commercial for toys though.

KIND of... as explained in the EU it was more a "sensitivity" that you were born with. some were born with higher sensitivity than others and some were born with insane amounts of sensitivity (think luke, Yoda etc) some people could use the force just in very small ways, some in medium ways and of course uber pimped out Jedi. it worked MUCH better than the stupid Midichlorians that Lucas came up with.

They're mentioned in Episode III. Again, the midis existed because they were a set-up for a big reveal in Episode III that Anakin was created by the Sith, and the Sith (in their greed) have the power to sustain and maintain life. With Anakin afraid to lose Padme, and discovering his true origin, this was supposed to explain his decision to become a Sith Lord.

For whatever reason, Lucas backed off on implicitly stating Anakin was created by the Sith, merely implying it in Episode III. Pity, because it would have helped make Anakin's turn more plausible, and would have redeemed the whole "midichlorian" subplot in Episode I.

Agreed. Not sure if I care for how that was all handled. His "turn" though was still plausible to me. He was an angry young man who just felt throttled by the jedi council. Then, to make matters worse, he had already had some personal trauma with his Mother. Then, he falls head over heels for Padme and starts to have the same visions as he did with his Mom. Fear of loss, after already losing a lot certainly would cause one to become a sour-puss! Cant say I blame the guy. If we were all presented with the same set of circumstances I suspect most woud have followed the same path.

Its easy for most of the senior Jedi to avoid the dark side seeing as none of them have any real tragedy in their lives that we know about. In other words, its easy to stay the course when you have dealt with little or no adversity your whole life.

Somehow I doubt if I were in similar circumstances I'd turn into a child murderer. But hey, maybe that's just me.

Similar circumstances + a Sith Lord messing with the rationale centre of your brain = you may just do anything you thought you wouldn't!

With a Sith Lord looming over every thought you have, it might seem logical to kill a child because you stumped your toe! Who knows?

you know why he abandoned it? It's because he likes to claim that the story of Vader is a tragic one....we're supposed to root for Anakin to redeem himself. But honestly, how could you feel any sympathy for a character who was borne of complete evil. If that whole "child of the Sith" plotline had come to fruition, Anakin, essentially, becomes Rosemary's Baby; the antichrist.

How can someone "fall" when they were destined to become a murdering psychopath? That would have meant Vader was never a tragic character in the first place; just an all-out, irredeemably evil one. Lucas wrote himself into a corner and wisely backed off on delving further into the events surrounding Anakin's birth.

It could have shown that regardless of one's origins/past, it's their actions in the present that determine who they are. So it could have worked.
