If this is true then they’re really going in as quietly as possible, even not announcing even a single cast & starting a misinformation campaign. But I would like to think that it’s true, this means the hype is starting sooner than we thought, bring on the spy photos & scoops!
JJ does like to keep everything hush hush and secrets though...which I dislike about him. And if he is making a Wars film more like the first three, maybe it won'y need a billion shots of CGI in every frame like the prequels?? Or we can hope.

I think Lucas become to obsessed with CGI, when less is more worked so much better for the originals.

According to Jedi News, Disney have signed a filming location deal with Pinewood Studios which will give them studio space there for the next ten years. We already know that Guardians of the Galaxy, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Cinderella and Star Wars Episode VII will all shoot at the iconic location, and the studio clearly has plans to return for possible sequels to them and more besides. However, most interesting is the fact that J.J. Abrams Star Wars movie is currently in pre-production under the pseudonym, "Foodles Productions Ltd". This was registered by Disney UK back in March. The site adds, "that the film has been in pre-production at Pinewood Studios for three and a half months in advance of an August 2013 shooting date. We hear they have block booked the studios for 10 years and that construction of offices and facilities on-site is underway. Also storage space is being located in the local area." With Kathleen Kennedy recently promising a return to old school practical effects, it could be these that they are currently working on. However, will this earlier start give Abrams time to also helm Star Trek 3?

Awesome! I can't wait to see the cast!

Guys, don't believe this shit for a second. I refused to believe it until it had been confirmed via TheForce.Net and they have just shot the rumour down with this quotation:

A Lucasfilm spokesman did tell Big Shiny Robot's Bryan Young that the August 2013 filming part of the rumor is false. Bryan wrote: I talked to a Lucasfilm spokesperson who didn’t comment on the codename, but did say that during her Q and A at Star Wars Celebration: Europe, Kathy Kennedy said that the new Star Wars film wouldn’t shoot until next year. “Nothing has changed.”

Who's Tommy Harper? IMDB credits him as executive producer along with Kathleen Kennedy.

Question The Return of "Palpatine"

‘Palpatine’ Will Return (but Not as A Clone) in ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’

Quote:
Last weekend perhaps the biggest news out of the D23 Expo was the lack of ANY NEWS from “Star War: Episode VII.” The fans had every right to boo Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn when he said:

“I do wish I could tell you more but there are dark forces. And they are watching.”

Prior to the presentation Walt Disney Co. chairman and CEO Bob Iger also said:

“Now we’re just as excited as you are about Star Wars: Episode VII. In fact, we’re speechless. At least we’re going to be somewhat speechless at this Expo because we aren’t ready to share some of the details with you just yet.”

BOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

So basically they had nothing to show you, and all you got was lip service.

One would think that they would at least give you the title or some casting from the upcoming trilogy, but all you got was what you already know, J.J. Abrams will direct “Star Wars: Episode VII” from a script by Michael Arndt and that John Williams is back to score the next “Star Wars” film, which is set for release in the summer of 2015.

Yadda, yadda, yadda…

Anyway, then came a rumor that actor Ian McDiarmid was to return for a role in the upcoming sequels.

McDiarmid played Emperor Palpatine in the original trilogy and Supreme Chancellor Palpatine in the prequels. As you know in “Return of the Jedi” the Emperor dies, so it was kind of shocking that he will return.

The specifics of McDiarmid’s return was unclear and it was even said he might come back as a clone, like in the comic books.

According to my source, he does come back in a way. Here is what I was told.

Palpatine comes back as a Force Ghost..like Obi Wan. (Sith Lords learned similar techniques, which in some cases allowed them to physically interact with their environment.)

I doubt this is true, but Palpy is one of my favourite villains and Ian McDiarmid is an excellent actor - so honestly, I wouldn't mind him making a return since he does in the EU.

There was that whole discussion about learning to avoid death, or what not. So it makes sense...

I used to live right near Pinewood. A bunch of us went there (when we were students) the front gate was just open so we just walked in - I mean why not?! Then after we were walking around the stages we were approached by a load of security and promptly thrown out...

I think Disney and Lucasfilm made it clear they're NOT following the Expanded Universe.

I for one am glad.

Why? Its pretty good stuff and makes sense from a continuation standpoint. Why mess with something thats solid? Its quite possible that Disneys course of action leads to suckage.

They should at least use some of the concepts and storylines. Doesnt have to be verbatim but something. We'll see.

You don't hire Michael Arndt and Lawrence Kasdan to adapt what was essentially officially licensed fan fiction.

Exactly. When you have the guy who wrote the movie the fan fiction is BASED ON, I think you have license to really continue the story properly.

Not to get back into the whole Prequel debate...just saying the absence of Kasdan from Episodes 1-3 was deeply felt by yours truly.

Completely agree. He's got an ear for naturalism in dialogue, that George, God love him, definitely doesn't have.

With a few exceptions, the Expanded Universe is crap. There's only so many times you can read the same plotline, which roughly equivalates to Emperor Palpatine and/or Darth Vader surrogate villian threaten our heros with a Death Star surrogate weapon. Yawn! Kevin J. Anderson was the worst offender.

Oh please let this be true and McDiarmid is returning. He was my favorite actor / character in the SW Universe.

McDiarmid would also make a great Alfred in the new Batman film.
