Exactly. I'm sure she was told who her mother was and given vague information from Bail as well to fill in the blanks.

I thought about that too, but anyone who tattles on Vader is liable to get their throat constricted. Fear will keep his lackeys in line.

And it can be interpreted another way, that Palps knew what Vader was up to and he dangled that line to see if Vader would bite. If Vader says that he knew it was his son, fair enough, but if he feigns ignorance then Palps knows that Vader's already plotting against him, leading to his whole bit about Luke taking his place by his side in Jedi.

The mutual backstabbing of both Vader and Palps is there in both original versions of course, and the narrative wasn't crying out for their revised exchange in Empire. But IMO it adds a bit of colour to their relationship, most likely put there because of Anakin's dialogue in Sith about overthrowing the Emperor and building his own empire.

I think by "goop" you mean embryonic fluid?

Dude! Look at that sweet ****ing practical monster/vendor thing! Looks good and Henson-y, JJ might have won over a lot of doubters right there.

I see JJ couldn't resist getting in a dig about the weather in London though. Suck it up dude, Lucas had to put up with that shit too and look what he created.

Entered the competition anyway. Free entry here: https://www.omaze.com/digital-free-a...ethod-of-entry .

Yeah, it looks like a cool creature, but it would look the same or better if it was CGI. I can look at it and tell it's a puppet, just like I can look at CGI and tell that it's CGI, but a CGI character has a better chance of fooling the majority of audiences than a puppet. Either way, it's not real - it's a movie! There will be a ton of digital animation in this film, no doubt, but Abrams will probably be more inclined to use puppets which to be fair, Lucas used quite often in the Prequels for crowds and such. If a character is going to be talking and performing though, I would much prefer a digital character that can give a real performance.

Do you remember someone called GoMerTonic, Kryptonic? I do. He used to post on IGN and TheForce.Net.

Watching that video it looked more like a sequel to Labyrinth, not Star Wars. I'm not getting that Tatooine vibe, which happens to be my favorite Star Wars planet. And while puppets may be nostalgic for a lot of people, they're not always the best answer. I'm hoping that drugged up alien will be lost in the crowd.

Nope. I've never posted on IGN. I did post on TFN about 12 years ago, but haven't been back since.

I'll respectfully disagree, I absolutely got the Tatooine feel from it, and LOVE that they will be using puppets (hopefully even have a Cantina type scene with a full cast of puppets ).

I hope its not Tatooine. I'm sick and tired of Tatooine. There are other planets in Star Wars, I want to see them.

I love the creature in the video. Love that they're using puppets, hopefully there's plenty practical effects in general. Would help give it some of that authentic OT feel.

Same! There's a tangible feel to practical effects and creatures that CGI has yet to achieve. We're getting there, but not quite yet. Photo-realism is going to happen very soon, but I'm relieved to know that Abram's production is utilizing puppets artists that will be performing them (hopefully from Henson and Co.). I'm sure he'll use the best of both worlds though, which I fully support. The best CGI is the stuff you don't actually realize is CGI.

CGI achieved what you're speaking of nearly 10-15 years ago. This type of thought process is silly. A puppet isn't real. It's a technique. CGI isn't real either. Again...technique. The difference is that you can get a legitimate performance out of CGI, same as you can with traditional hand drawn animation. With puppets, you're severely limited with the kind of shots and performance you can get and that ultimately hurts the film more than it helps it. Imagine if Lucas had been able to do a CGI Yoda in Empire. We could have seen him really training Luke. He could have walked around Dagobah in wide shots. The whole sequence could have been opened up a great deal more. Puppets and masks have their place in the background or on extras, but for a real performance, make no mistake, Abrams is going to use digital characters.
