The teaser looks great. Don't know why there's still a Rebellion against an Empire after the events of Episode VI. Unless they have a very good explanation, it cheapens the climax of the saga as it is. I also have to wonder why didn't the design of the ships change. After all, this is over 30 years after the classic trilogy...

So one theory floating around right now about this lightsaber is that

[Show spoiler]this is an old Sith that has been reawakened and that he has an early model lightsaber.

That would make a lot of sense because I don't see the practical use of the hilt guards on it, even though I think it looks awesome.

Just saw that theory myself. I could buy that, especially with the way the saber's blades look.

For the hilt guards to be practical, they would need to be even with the main blade. As it stands, a lightsaber would just cut them right off at their base.

If anything it just looks like a midevil sword. So it probably was one of the earliest incarnations of a lightsbaer.

The Empire wasn't destroyed at the end of Return of the Jedi. While they did defeat Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine and dealt the Empire a major blow but, as with all things, there would still be remnants of the Empire throughout the universe.

Just taking a simple look at World War II and Nazi Germany, there were remnants of the Nazi's that continued to exist for far after Hitler was defeated.

It was defeated and the Alliance won, hence the celebrations at the end. Opening a sequel set 30 years later as if 'nothing happened' feels like a sucker punch.

I liked the teaser and I don't mind JJ's style on display. I'm pretty sure it'll look good but all I really want is a great story that carries over into the rest of the new trilogy.

I wasn't too impressed with this, to be honest. We got a stormtrooper with his helmet off, some kid racing across Tatooine on a landspeeder, a mysterious character with a sword-like lightsaber, and the Falcon fighting a pair of TIE fighters. My immediate thought was, "that's it? Hmm..."

I thought we'd at least get a look at Mark, Carrie, and Harrison; what's the deal?
