I know what you mean, I would love Max von Sydow for any role in this film. But you also know what I mean.

When you're over $300 million domestic that's a helluva lot more money than a few hardcore fans just seeing it over and over.

Internet fanboys love to think their opinion speaks for everyone just because a bunch of people just like them agree. In the real world, $$$ speaks louder than a thousand internet posts. Perfect example: Serenity. Beloved by the internet fanboy army. Didn't even make back it's production cost of $39 million...not even it's gross on home video made it in the black (people don't account for marketing costs).

Right because things that are terrible never make a lot of money. Popular and successful does not equal good, just ask Taylor Swift.

Yes but on who's authority? You may think the prequels suck but if I say they're awesome does that make my opinion any less valid than yours?

You may hate the prequels but you cannot argue with success. The movies made bank and while you may not approve, clearly enough people did for the movie to turn in those kinds of ridiculous numbers. It wasn't just the whiny internet nerd minority going to see these films.

I don't think Sydow is
[Show spoiler]Fett
. If I had to venture a guess it would be
[Show spoiler]Sifo Dyas
, only because this character never got to be fleshed out in any way in the prequels. Bringing him back around full circle would at least add some weight to his character arc besides
[Show spoiler]a brief mention in AOTC
.

Personally, it's tedious to read the "my opinion has more people than you" arguments. Unless you literally have the ability to take a world-wide poll, this is a ridiculous thing to argue one way or the other.

Personally, I can't understand how anyone can watch the majority of Attack of the Clones and think "wow, this is a good movie." But that's just me. I'm not going to speak for all of society.

I must have thought Clones was awesome. I mean, I paid to see it and apparently that's the yardstick...

Never understood why people will defend a movie like Attack of the Clones. There have been big budget movies that fans and critics throw under the bus in a heartbeat. The prequels, especially AotC, had, you would think, every advantage going for them. Huge budgets, access to good actors, and a rich universe to draw from, yet they failed miserably and some fans are still adamant that they aren't any worse than the original trilogy. How anyone can watch AotC and defend it is beyond me.

I actually just watched Attack of the Clones last night. Except for some awkward Naboo scenes, overall it's a really good film. The narrative flows really well, there are a lot to like. The conversation between Obi-Wan and Jango was intense. I would say it shows Lucas is still a very good storyteller and director, only some dialogue and acting he's having a lot of struggle I have to admit. This is true to all the prequels. If the leaks about The Force Awakens is true, they sounds like a story that would came from Lucas himself. I'm glad Lawrence Kasdan is back to flesh out his ideas.

I suggest you give it a try again with an open mind, just have the remote in your hands to fast forward the Anakin/Padme scenes if you find it offending.

The best way to watch Clones is with a remote in one hand and booze in the other.

Just don't turn it into a drinking game where you do a shot every time you hit chapter forward.

That can get pretty messy pretty quick.

I saw it in the theaters twice, bought it on DVD, and then bought the prequel Blu-Ray trilogy set. Same with the Phantom Menace. I think they're both godawful films.

But as much I think they're bad and enjoy making fun of their awfulness, I can't say I don't enjoy watching them. I find them to be kind of "interesting failures" if that makes any sense. Plus I have a weird nostalgic attachment to Episode I, even though I consider it the most disappointing movie of all time.

But yeah, you can't really use the money argument to defend movies. By that guideline, some of the year's best films would include the Transformers films and Twilight something or other.
