Although i didn't hate the prequels, I didn't love them either. I still goto the Empire Strikes Back for my SW fix. I'm completely interested in the new film because, I feel Abrams has done a really good job with the new Star Trek.

Echoing my sentiments, exactly. Although I own them, and for a marathon's sake, I might watch them again, but I'll take no pleasure in it, and certainly won't get as excited about watching those as I do to OT.

Likewise, despite some of the rumors I've read about Episode VII, I'm still looking forward to it and have confidence that everything will turn out better than the prequels.

Mark my words guys....

The only ones that will give negative reviews on this film...will be those that are pissed cause Disney threw Lucas's ideas out the window.

More than anything, the prequels suffer from George Lucas writing the entire thing himself without any creative input from other experienced screenwriters/storytellers to bounce off, something that imo was absolute vital for the success for the Star Wars OT sequels and the Indiana Jones films.

People mention the cast of the OT returning for The Force Awakens as a major selling point and that's fine. Lawrence Kasdan is my unsung hero though and if anyone can breathe life into Lucas' characters and make them memorable for the ages, the guy who fleshes out the scripts for The Empire Strikes Back and Raiders Of The Lost Ark sure fits the bill.

So if the film sucks or turns out to be like one of the PT films we are suppposed to like it? I find it funny that everyone just "assumes" that it will be a great film. There is a 50/50 chance that Abrams jacks this film up like he did the Star Trek reboots (IMHO).

It won't suck...think about it....whatever Lucas's ideas were obviously Disney realized they don't want to make the same mistake as was done before..

Don't get me wrong i would love to know what Lucas had in store for us..maybe one day he will reveal it..

As long as Abrams doesn't add in a lot of things just for the sake of kids (Jar Jar), his movies will already be a million times better than the PT in my eyes. He did just fine with Star Trek (even if those can be loosely considered remakes of existing movies).

How do you know that? I mean you and i can hope that, but you have no way on this green earth to know that at this time.

Im still trying to figure out WTF "the force awakens means". Like where did it go? There has been an awakening "the dark..............and the light" Really? As of right now (to me) that sounds as bad as "There are heroes on both sides".

I could really care less what he wanted becuse there were so many GREAT people that contibuted in a HUGE way on the OT that he totally lost it with the PT because they were no longer around.

No one said anyone had to like the prequels, but the people who come in here to complain about them are essentially thread crapping. They come into any Star Wars thread to tell other members how much they think the prequels suck. They do it just to get a rise out of them and start the thread derailing. Yes you can have other opinions but most of you add nothing constructive to the debate. Just saying they suck and that George Lucas ***** your childhood should get you and automatic suspension.

Is Lucas saying that he only had material for EP:7? Or did he have the entire trilogy mapped out already??
I wonder if the director of Ep 8 will follow what Lucas's ideas are for that film....

No it seems that you have nothing to add to the debate unless you are a rah rah cheerleader for the new film. If you have growing concerns (as I do) you are automatically tagged as a "troll" or "thread crapper" or at the least a target for someone pointing a finger and saying "oh you have already made your mind up!" when that is the farthest thing from the truth. How is that any different than a Rah Rah Cheerleader has his mind made up that its going to be a slice of heaven? As of right now we just dont know how this film will be. And history dictates (to a large group) that we should be a little wary. Personally I would rather be very skeptical and suprised if its good then go in with expectations of the moon and walk out (like I did with AotC) basically crying.

Funny ppl have concerns when the only true concrete information anyone has is a 1:21 second trailer, and the fact the original cast is back. No one else knows anything for sure except those involved in production and nothing has been said. All else is just rumor, including the pictures and images to which people have no context what they mean.

I don't believe I said the movie was going to be wonderful or garbage. Kind of funny that when people talk about the negativity being spewed in Star Wars threads you always jump on the defensive.

You're right we need to wait and see when the movie comes out..but there are people out there that (who will admit that it was good) when it releases will bash it just for the sake of fitting in.

So you have concerns over a title, but yet you have no preconception or knowledge as to what it means. The trailer really showed nothing other than a bad guy with a weird sword, a black guy in a stormtrooper outfit, a girl on a speeder, a droid, and someone flying the falcon like a boss. So please explain how since none of the plot has been actually revealed with how it relates to the title how you could have concerns with any of this. Now unless your talking about how everything looked on film PT vs OT look then you may have an argument.

For all we know The Force Awakens means Luke woke up and got out of bed on the left side instead of the right this AM
