Default Hasbro coming out with new customizable lightsabers this fall.

This fall, the toy company will debut Star Wars Bladebuilders, a new lightsaber kit packed with compatible hilts, connectors and other materials that lets fans create their own dream lightsaber -- and yes, crossguards are included!

The main Jedi Master Lightsaber set ($49.99) includes "a lightsaber with lights and electronic sounds, a pair of lightdaggers, an expansion hilt and a variety of connectors." From there, fans can mix and match from three other assortment packs tied to various characters. Blades come in both foam and extendable plastic.

The new toy line will be on display at NYC's Toy Fair Saturday through Tuesday.

Luke, Leia, Han and Chewy were left on the editing room floor. Lucasfilm/Disney don't want to deal with the uproar.

I think the idea of Christmas openings is that more people are out and about doin shopping, the schools are closed, a lot of people take more time off at Christmas. In the summer more people jet off on holiday and if the weather is hot don't wanna spend 2 hours in a cinema. I went to the cinema on the U.K.s hottest day last year, it was around 36c with Florida humidity. The cinema was deserted both in the screens and the foyer - everyone had headed off to the Coast. Nov/Dec openings is becoming bigger ever year so before we know it it could be the norm.

Traditionally, it was the biggest frame of the year because air conditioning didn't exist and people avoided theaters in the summer.

Things have changed, summer is now the preferred window, but shrewd filmmakers have exploited the weakness of the January/February dumping ground. Titanic. Avatar. Massive hits. The Star Wars Special Editions caught everyone off guard opening in January and they made a fortune. Unless it is an awful film, or some freak film comes out to challenge it, SWVII is going to have a clear path through March.

oh god, some of those look ever worse than the one in the trailer. I am sure some youngling would have accidentally killed himself with one of those.

Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not.

Yeah, because that philosophy worked out real well for Anakin...

Did they announce which year Episode 8 and 9 will be released? I'll be 33 when Episode 7 comes out. I was not even 6 months old when Return of Jedi came out and 16 when Phantom Menace came out. I feel so old lol.

The eighth and ninth Episodes are tentatively scheduled for 2017 and 2019, but that may change since neither are set in stone yet. As for feeling old, you need not worry; I'm only a couple of years older than you, being 18 when "Phantom Menace" hit in the summer of '99. My cousin Jared was born in '70, so he's part of the first "Star Wars generation".

Cool

As a kid, I imagined Lucas would sit on his franchise without releasing any more films and just focus on the merchandise. Always imagining where Luke, Chewy, Han, C3PO, R2D2, Boba Fett and Leia would end up after Return of the Jedi.

When the prequels were released, I felt he was going backwards, away from the stories we grew up with. It makes sense now to fill in the Chapter Numbers, but I'm very happy to finally see we're less than a year away from the continuation of the Star Wars Original Trilogy. Pretty much a dream come true as far as movies go.

What in the what are THOSE things? I have no problem with the cross guard, but this HAS to be fake right? If they're just toys, whatever, but if those appear in the movie too... Come on. The mishmash of colors is bad enough, but what the hell is that double bladed, quad guard thing? And a dagger with a back blade? WHAT? that won't even be fun for kids!!!

I disagree, I think it will do better.

JJ Abrams has a big following, and this is a sequel to the original films which are adored by fans. The original (living) cast will all be there.

The prequels may have stole some thunder and turned some people off, but I see no reason this will not break records.

Right now everyone is pumped for Age of Ultron which I have no doubt will be amazing, but as soon as they release an actual trailer for Episode 7 the excitement will only grow. And if they release a trailer for it in front of Age of Ultron, people will be leaving the theater saying "I can't wait for Episode 7."

The toys are awesome guys. My kids would love that. Building your own lightsaber, adding all kinds of blades. How about a pitchfork with 3 different colors? Kids would eat that up.

Obviously it's not going to be in the movie, so don't worry about that. Unless there's a character that is wavering between the light and dark side. Perhaps, in a tense scene, where one realizes the dark side is their path... They spin their lightsaber around and ignite the red blade....
