If the above is true, I would have to change my pants. TMI, I know, but I don't care. I would kill to see all three of them return as their older selves.

There's no way Shia LeBeouf should be let anywhere near this - he won't as he's becoming more "adult" with the new Lars Von Trier film anyway - and Knightly shouldn't have any appearances, because we don't want this becoming another PotC instalment.

John Williams should do the music but, if he doesn't feel he can, someone who can imitate his style should - definitely not Elfman, who has his own unique feel that would certainly not work with this.

As I said, don't mean to belittle you, and I'm sure many others may agree with what you say, but it's not what I feel.
Knightly has already been in SW ...

Tarantino would have been an awful choice. He's obviously a legend, but SW needs a certain type of director to capture the wonder of it all. It has its darker aspects, but last thing we need is someone going overboard and showing a Jedi lopping off kids heads and guys getting set on fire or.....

oh.

Arndt is an excellent choice to bring the series back to its roots. I really hope he gets the job. I'm very excited about the possibilities.

That would be awesome, considering Lucas wanted him to direct Return of the Jedi. I think Spielberg would jump at the chance to direct a Star Wars movie.

Yeah, but that was pre-PotC days. If she was in such a similar role in this, it'd just be a constant reminder - especially if Verbinksi was directing. I have complete faith in Disney, but I don't want this to end up a re-hash of PotC because they think it'll make money that way.

I was only half kidding in my post, trying to get the conversation back on topic mostly.

In all seriousness I WOULD want Shia Lebouf because he is a great action star and he is a hell of a lot better than the previous male leads, Luke and Anakin, so why not? And Knightely would be a perfect fit she was already in Star Wars and could be playing a grand daughter of the persons he played in Episode I. And I for one LOVED the Pirates movies and when ever I watch them I think of Star Wars anyways so I guess for me they already are too similar.

I would be okay with Spielberg taking an active role in production but not as the main director, and just because he directed a few scenes in one of the films does not mean he directed a Star Wars film.

Yeah, but PotC and Star Wars are separate entities and Disney know it would be foolish to even try and make SW seem more like the former. There's no denying that PotC has been extremely influenced by elements of SW, but that shouldn't be the other way around now.

LeBeouf openly admits that he's ruined a few franchises now with appearances - most notably Indy - so I doubt he'd even accept if he was chosen. He shouldn't be chosen, though, because he's not a good actor IMO - he plays the same character in every thing, and SW isn't a complete action-fest like Transformers is, so he'd be lost when it came to acting the emotional parts. I don't want this Star Wars becoming just an action film with no depth to it because that's not how the series has gone so far.

As for Spielberg, he would be perfect as director, but I do think it's time to give a younger generation of film-makers the chance to get involved in something huge like this. Spielberg knows what has made SW so loved but that's not necessarily a good thing - I don't know about anyone else, but I don't want just another trilogy done in the style of the old ones. I want something that keeps the feel but does it for a new decade, that has developed and become more, not just a retread of the previous ones. Someone new would allow that rawness to shine through. Spielberg would make something shiny and exactly the same.

(Oh, and Spielberg ghost directed a few sequences. I think his total time came up to about half an hour, if I remember correctly. I'll try and find the article now.)

but that is exactly why I suggested Lebouf and the Pirates guy, because it would be more modern and appeal to the younger generation. I might not be as old as some of you guys so I don't remember the originals in their former glory days. I was born in '82 so my memories of Star Wars was at a time when they were on decline and I was made fun of for still liking those relics. It was not until the Special Editions came out that it was suddenly cool to like Star Wars again and that ONLY lasted until the prequels were finished and it went from cool to nerd again. So for me I want it to be fresh enough like the prequels were, which were relics of their time, and the originals are relics of their time, that is what makes Star Wars timeless, it keeps things fresh by not being tied to what came before. The people who hated the prequels are the same ones who will hate these new ones. That much I can promise you. Because they are handing it off to a NEW generation, if you have been paying any attention to the way Hollywood and especially Disney has been making movies lately my choices aren't so far fetched.

And no matter what he says, if they offer him the part he would be a fool to pass. And he is a thousand times better than Hayden was as an actor so he couldn't possibly do any worse there.

And Spielberg I mostly am against because of his age, he is from the old generation the old way of film making, that is not what Disney needs here they need to breath new life into the franchise for future generations not keep it stale to please the old farts that can't let go of the past.

If John Williams doesn't come back for whatever reason then it shouldn't be Danny Elfman - that's just picking a famous composer name out of the air. His style is fantastic for what it is but it doesn't have the classic, sweeping sound that Star Wars needs. If we need a new composer then it should be Michael Giacchino. He's already composed music for the franchsie with Disney's new Star Tours ride and his scores for The Incredibles, Star Trek and John Carter show he can work very well in the sci-fi action space-opera genre. It also helps that he's one of the best composers working in film today.

Plus he's worked with Brad Bird multiple times (incredibles, Ratatouille, M:I-4) who is my favourite choice for director (he has the perfect eye for spectacle and emotion with humour and emotion perfectly balanced). I'm ruling out Spielberg only because I don't think he'd do it at this point in his career though, if he did get announced, I'd be extremely excited.

And if the rumours of Michael Arndt is true then that's fantastic. I would love that to be true, a very intelligent man capable of supplying the wit, emotion and just plain joy that Star Wars needs.

Disney plans on re-releasing the blu ray versions of The Star Wars Saga with proper restoration...
Rumor that has been swirling around since the news broke that Disney bought Lucasfilm is that they plan on releasing the UOT on blu-ray, and also to correct the mistakes that have not been corrected when the Saga was first released on blu-ray...Possible release for this will be 2013/2014...

This info was reported last Saturday on (originaltrilogy.com) but has since been taken down by the sites ADMINS.

They can't - Fox still owns the distributions rights to the original six films. The "rumour (that has) been swirling since the news broke" is just fan speculation.

When are they gonna accept the fact that LeBouf is NOT an a-list super star? They've been trying to ram him down the throats of movie goers for a while now. Its like fishing with the same bait over and over and over with no bites. Time to change the bait, ya know?
