Fall 2015 is what JJ Abrams suggested for the premiere of the 3rd trailer for Star Wars VII, so with Fall being next week, it's a possibility.

I'll guess sometime in October.

Don't ask her to watch them at all. She might think of you as an annoying nerd and walk away. First talk about what movies she likes and if there's any indication she might also like Star Wars, broach the topic slowly. If not, pick a movie that she would like, based upon her movie watching history.

What is the point of asking people about the order? You're going to get answers that represent almost every mathematical combination. Some people will say watch the prequels, others will say not to. So what do you do with all that conflicting information - it's useless. It's like asking people what flavor ice-cream they like the best or whether they like boxer shorts. Who cares?

P.S. You can't get to "know" someone online. Meet her. Geez.

John Landis and George Lucas... 2 people that have nothing to do with a deal getting done that would ensure us the theatrical versions

I understand what you're saying, but really George Lucas is (or possibly more accurately was) actually crucial in all this, because it depends what the terms of the sale of Lucasfilm were to Disney, and unless we get to know exactly what those terms were, we'll still be guessing until theatrical versions are re-released, if they are.

If Lucas just sold up with no conditions attatched, then Disney does a deal with Fox and everything's sorted. If Lucas made it a condition that the theatrical versions couldn't be re-released, or not for x number of years, or until after his death, etc etc, then it's more complicated, but he could still be persuaded or just change his mind even then. So if the reports that he told Landis this are accurate, it's a very healthy sign, I'd say.

Lucas himself released the original cuts on DVD, he just didn't want to spend the money to reassemble the original negative and restore it and release that version.

LucasFilm has a new leader now, and a parent company with some deep pockets, and protecting that original negative -- all of it -- is a no-brainer priority. Also, the expense of re-assembling the original negative has dropped significantly since the 90's, so re-creating the unaltered OT shouldn't be as daunting a prospect as it was almost two decades ago.

I was only kidding . I want my daughter to go with me to see the new one and she didn't see any of the old ones and I knew It wouldn't be a favorite with her so we only watched the last one just to catch her up quickly since it is the closest one to the new one .

Exactly, Lucas seemed to be warming up to the idea of the theatrical cuts being released in later years, he just seemed more indifferent than anything, not wanting to spend the money to restore them. So we got those LD ports, but it was a step in the right direction.

I've never had any doubt the theatrical cuts would be properly restored and released in time so I have no trouble believing John Landis when he says they will be.

I think we all had a sneaking suspicion that it would happen, the simple question is when will it happen? No way are Disney gonna pollute the marketing of Ep VII, there's a huge anniversary opportunity coming up in just two years.

Might as well say this once more though: the Fox distribution deal has no bearing on this restoration whatsoever. Whatever versions Disney/LFL want to release theatrically and/or on physical media, Fox will release it for them for the next few years. End of story.

No lie. I'm not making this up. I've never thought I would encounter a human being who has not seen those movies. Like, how is that possible when they're on TV all the time?

To tell you the truth, the whole situation reminded me of this:

If Jar Jar Binks is NOT in this new film I will NOT go watch it. Lucas the introduced world to a character that surpassed and outshined the Skywakers in every way conceivable.

Star wars CANNOT be the same nor enjoyably without Jar Jar. I have a huge tattoo of Jar Jar on my

Looks really good to me in terms of art and composition. If this was first hand drawn and then painted (and not alterations of photographs), even better.

Here's the official one for comparison.

Interested in seeing how big of a role Han Solo will play in Star Wars VII. Guessing he will be the one to lead Rey and Finn into the Rebel Alliance, and introduce them to Leia, Chewy and Skywalker so they can form a plan to counter the Empire's uprising.
