So it seems that we may get a teaser of a lightsaber fight scene in the trailer

On sunday at around 6 in the evening Norwegian cinemas announced Monday morning 9 o'clock ticketsale.

Debated wether to do an all-nighter, but ended up taking the first bus in to town at 05.40!!

Was the only one there, with one more guy arriving about an hour before sales were slated to start.

Half an hour before there was stil no movement on manual ticketcounter, usuallt it opens at 10, and suddenly the website had changed to 'online purchase only' for 9 o'clock with manual sales opening at 10..

The administration is located next door to the theatre and found the manager in his office and asked him.. no.. urged him to have people in the booth in 25 minutes.

He made some phonecalls and said the girl who was supposed to open at 10 would be there in time, and with 1 minute to go she finally opened the register and we got our tickets.

Online sales were not yet up and working at this time.

The manager put the blame on Disney saying that they wanted the surprise presale, and if that is the case then Disney has, in my opinion, shown they do not take Starwars seriously..

Found this (now deleted) post on reddit which sums up my views pretty well:

The biggest sale-site (kinda like Fandango in the US) in Denmark, kino.dk, has announced that the sale begins tomorrow at 9 o'clock in the morning here in Denmark. They announced this at 5 PM. It would seem like this is a world-wide pre sale, starting tomorrow.

Less than 24 hours before. This was a major surprise, not only that it was going to be so early, but also that we get no preparation time what-so-ever.

According to kino.dk, it's a distributor thing, and not their fault. I personally don't really buy this and think they could delay the presale date, but then again, Disney is hard core. If it is a distributor-thing, this would also lend credit to my title, that the sale is starting tomorrow world-wide.

This smells a lot like Disney wants to be able to announce "Millions bought SW7 ticket on monday in presale!!" to hype. But honestly, it's a big ****ing slap in the face to all non-US. There has been absolutely no rumors concerning the ticket sale starting already here, and about a month before is the usual with big releases, and the presale date is usually announced 1-2 weeks before.

I personally cannot, as most adults, just not go to my job tomorrow morning, so I won't get tickets for the midnight premiere. This has soured my experience of SW7 greatly. I got to feel the excitement of seeing the new poster merely ten minutes before this news of presale dropped. I won't even be excited about the trailer now.

But I hope maybe some other non-US who weren't prepared can check their local sale-sites and get prepared.

Can't believe how many tickets this is selling, at this rate there will be none left to actually sell at the box office come the 17th.

It seems like yesterday I was sat down watching the title crawl for episode III thinking to myself this is the last time I'm going to experience this. I'm glad i was wrong

No IMAX screening for Force Awakens if you do the marathon? That pretty much seals it for me then. I'll just see Force Awakens by itself. Not that I was all that keen on sitting through the prequels and Blu-ray SEs of the Holy Trilogy anyway. Especially for 50 bucks.

50 bucks for 7 films? I paid £40 GBP for two tickets to see EPVII alone!

Granted I don't think I would want to sit through the first 6 films then the 7th. I'd be exhausted. I'll watch all 6 at home in the weeks leading up to the 17th.

I think cinema's knew a few days ago as Vue sent out 'Tickets Now Available' emails on Saturday which was obviously someone jumping the gun.

Actually, the broadcasted NFL game starts at 8pm EST in the U.S., but the trailer doesn't debut until halftime of that game, meaning it could be another hour's wait, maybe more.

It's not a bad deal in terms of ratio of dollars per movie(and Force Awakens is a 3D showing reportedly). But if I have no interest in the prequels and can't stand a bunch of the changes in the Blu-ray SEs, then what's the point? Especially given the scheduled start time for the marathon is 4:30 AM. There's no way I'll be able to stay awake for the entire thing anyway.

Totally agree, I'm sure there will be people there with sleeping bags taking naps throughout the day

My "personal canon", just mine !!!!!!!!!!!!

The prequels are a standalone parallel universe. They are just terrible. I cannot stand them.

The theatrical versions of the original three movies are canon. No crappy 1998 CGI, no Greedo crap, no new scenes, no Hayden ghosts floating around.

This upcoming movie is 100% canon. I cannot wait.

Anyway - that only confirms for me that the Empire is the place to go for all IMAX films,as of now. I do, though, also suspect that the BFI IMAX isn't changing its projection bulb frequently enough. It badly needs an overhaul, imo,as both EVEREST and THE WALK looked pretty murky to my eyes; and it'd be great if IMAX would develop its own Atmos system. It's ridiculous that corporate in-fighting means we can't see films with both technologies, as the two combined would really encourage people to go to the cinema more often.
IMAX with Laser comes with 12.0 surround. That's basically IMAX's take on Dolby Atmos/DTS:X

The original IMAX installation already comes with 5.0/6.0 setup, so now it has six more.

FL, FL, FC, RL, RR and Top Centre
Side Left, Side Right, Overhead FL, DR, RL, RR.

Avengers - Age of Ultron was the first to make use of this, using DTS:X

I'm not sure any other movie is mixed in this format again. And there's no signs of it for The Force Awakens.

Maybe I'll take the 17th off and watch the Despecialized Editions at home for my own little marathon. I watched a few minutes of Star Wars the other day and it looks fantastic upscaled in 4K.

I'm sure by the time it's out, plenty of people will have canceled their tickets, or decided not to go. Some people may be buying them just to scalp.
