Or the reasoning the insiders are not speaking is perhaps that they are...busy? PM said that after CES he wouldn't be speaking for sometime because being bombarded with messages, etc... When there is news, I am sure we will hear it. Lets all just relax and be patient.

I interpreted Graffeo's statement as "We will start to release on Blu-ray as well as HD DVD". If that were not the case, he would have included the word "exclusively", as you say. There is no other reason to omit the word "exclusively" in his statement.

i think he said it this way specifically to appease those who have just bought an HD DVD player for Christmas (and hard-core HD DVD fanatics). They would be so upset if they heard the war is over and they already lost!
Tough luck imo.... but the fact is, they have lost and waiting a lttle longer will not make them happier. In fact, if you switch now, before the month is out, they will have the chance to return their player for a BD player instead, and BD movies.
END THE WAR UNIVERSAL! PLEASE!!! And Paramount too!

Yes and the fact Penton isn't talking is very unusual. Hey Penton "Come out, come out where ever you are"!!!

This was my exact take.

One poster stated that Warner was waiting until June 1st to give HD DVD one more chance. They have all lost it.

Then PM me some more of dem pics.....the kind that may have a problem in passing censorship, as I wouldn't want you to get in any posting trouble. I shall evaluate them.

They offer very economical pricing for use of the venue and the layout is very nice.

Or, if you’re living large and in charge like some folks I know, then try this………

I've been to Vizcaya before, the place is absolutely gorgeous. They were doing some of photoshoot for some wedding magazine when I was there. It's definitely a photogenic place.

I live 5 minutes from Viscaya, plus I dance there a few times for the Renaissance Festival. The Monestary has an incredible history it was actually brought over piece by piece from Italy by the Hearst family.

One thing about Hollywood, is to remember that it's a very small town, in a way. People work for different studios all the time and there's a lot of cross-company work being done. As such you don't want to antagonize those same people you work for and with tomorrow. I'd never expect Penton or any of the other insiders here to talk badly about people who work for studios on the other side, and they never really have during the worst of the war.

That said, this format war has been particularly dirty, and primarily because of one factor, Microsoft - they don't understand Hollywood and are too used to using their strongarm tactics like they've done in the IT business. That doesn't work though, and I'm sure they've burned quite a few bridges as a result.

I got a question for the insider that may seem somewhat bizarre, but hey that's what this thread is all about.

Taking all the people I know, we must own well over 150 different Blu-ray titles. Here's the question, have any of you encountered faulty discs? By this time with standard DVD I would have had at least 5 to 10 movies with some kind of defect. However, no one I know has any issues with their Blu-ray movies. Sure we've had issues with our players, that a simple firmware has fixed, but not the discs themselves.

Even talking to various stores located here in Montreal no one has reported Blu-ray discs getting returned. The largest video store in Montreal, Metro Video, has never had any Blu-ray discs returned besides people returning them because it didn't work on their DVD player (yes, people can't read).

I'm sure you guys are tired of all the Paramount and Universal questions, so this may spice up your day a bit How faulty are these discs? What kind of issues have people had, etc?

Thanks in advance and keep up the great job.

Isn't just that reporting from the Variety news that came out yesterday morning?

Hoestly, *this* is why I don't like to be patient in matters like this. All that being patient does is give the opposition a chance to retaliate. No matter the position that they are in Toshiba and possibly MS have very deep pockets and smart people that could put a thorn into the HDM market for a very long time.
