We should definitely allow him back. Yes, he was a huge HD DVD supporter but he said before the Warner decision that he would back whom ever they supported and he has done just that. Now if we are talking about that worthless piece of crap Amir well then that's a whole different story.

My vote is that we welcome David Vaughn to Blu-Ray.com

I would cautiously say yes. He at least sees reality, just not sure why all of the rhetoric about FOX, and some other statements he was clinging to. He also seems to come out with statements that are outdated, or from red sources, which may not be his fault, but that could stir things up here. If it comes with a risk of alienating the Insiders, especially Penton-man, then no, he can stay away. Just my 2 cents.

What company does Mr. Vaughn work for to be considered an insider.

He isn't an insider at all. He is a film reviewer and/or journalist.

Of course that goes without saying.

And that's going to be the main problem, I'm afraid. Dave Vaughn comes off as too confrontational and I see him ticking off more people around here than not. A lot of HD DVD fanboys respect the man and those fanboys will eventually wind up here (like it or not). If he keeps clinging to these "what-if" scenarios he's going to bring down morale and keep people in "the war" mentality. He needs to chill, accept what is (and that goes for the rest of the HD DVD guys & gals) and then we all need to move forward with Blu-ray.

Let's do what we can to push the format forward. Let's offer suggestions to better the format, not bash it for the few problems that we may run across.

I'd say no, not after showing his true colors here the first time.

We wouldn't want to risk alienating our real insiders for some imitation insider information.

Besides, his track record is not that good with the exception of the Neilsen numbers.

I say he has lost all credibility. He made his bed, let him sleep in it.

Quote from HDD from Vaughn

Penton-Man has no idea what he is talking about. He should take a lesson from Paidgeek and learn about class, which he (PM) has none of.
How's about No with a big mug of STFU for Mr. Vaughn.

Reasoned arguments on facts between ladies and gentlemen on either side of this war are fine-- I respect and would be willing to bury the hatchet with anybody on the other side of the aisle who followed this code.

Repeatedly propagating BD FUD while claiming to be "neutral", and tossing insults at one of our most knowledgable, as well as entertaining, insiders-- I have a big freakin' problem with. The guy can do what he wants with BD-- he will not have my welcome or respect. I put him in the same boat as Amir as far as this "war" is concerned. They can both bloody bugger off.

I think it will be up to the MODs and other insiders to invite Dave back.

My vote: He can come back.

Like all of us, he is a home theater enthusiast and has NOW jumped on the bluray bandwagon and has really done a good job of telling it like it is for the HD-DVD camp now that Warner is on our side. Many of yall expected him to rally the troops, but now he wholeheartedly admits that HD-DVD is all but dead at this point.

Anyway, this thread is now officially off topic, so Im going to make that my last word on DV, unless Im asked by the MODs

I think he should come back as a member and if seen fit let him in as an insider based on cred...

For what it's worth, Mr Vaughn appears to want to do just that:

If Vaughn comes back, I'll try my best not to put him on my ignore list, but I can't make any promises.

I just remember him attacking the insiders so much that Penton left the forum. Don't want anything like that again.

He has his opinion and he is entitled to express them. He a realist and can accept he might have been wrong, so I for one don't believe in holding grudges against any one.

Although, I have to admit I would never like to met in the flesh, some of the rabid fanboys this format war has produced.

Mr. Vaughn said on avs that blu-ray has for all intents and purposes won. It doesn't seem to me like he is some irrational hd dvd supporter.
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showp...postcount=3987
"If we as enthusiasts want to have HDM into the future on a physical format, then Blu-ray is the only option."
If the man wants to come back I don't see why we shouldn't give him another chance.
Penton said to forgive Graffeo and his points were always the same as Vaughns'.
They both touted replication, attach rates, and unfinished platform hubabaloo.
It is quite obvious that Mr. Vaughn wants hdm to survive and flourish, that's more than I know about the other guy.

No, all it means is that he's getting while the getting's good, not wanting to go down with the red ship and lose everything, especially his screener privileges. He's hoping that by pulling the old "I was always on the side of reason, and I'm recognizing who my daddy is" (aka the winner) that bygones will be bygones (don't think so)

Don't forget that Vaughn has his own little harem of hangers-on that he maintains and feeds tidbits to that he also doesn't want to lose. He's a FUDmeister, his only sources are red, and that's not likely to change any time soon.

He's a pariah for a reason, the months of wading through crap his FUD caused, let him eat his just desserts.

I'd appriciate if you just keep him, and discussion of him, out of the Insider's thread, and in the new ones too. He's not an insider, no one feeds him anything without an agenda, and therefore should be safely ignored
. I'll tell you flat out- I'm sure my sources are way better than Mr. Vaughn's. The difference is that I don't betray their confidence feeding random people behind their backs, or in his case, they know he does it, so they use him to feed what they don't dare say publically due to the potential personal and legal consequences, and he spreads their manure without question so he can feel special.

I will admit that I did set up Dave Vaughn over at HDD by first posting a quote that Penton made at this forum.

I'm for getting DV back in.

Fromwhat I gather someone at a replication plant scared the bejesus out of him over bd 50 replication. I think that was really making him think bd was a hot potato.

But I thinkhe's realized that if he's the only one really worried about replication then what is there to worry about?
I think the BDA know their own rep statistics and wouldnt be proceding forward with bd50 if they didnt think they could handle it.

Seems to be a nice guy, just got sucked into a lot of the hd dvd propaganda.

I believe it's just that simple too and I can't understand why anyone would want him back, especially after he caused this:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=1254

I don't want a repeat of that event. Real insiders belong here and the quasi insiders can stay at AVS.
