I received a bunch of PM’s for my thoughts on Paramount publishing in the Blu-ray format…..i.e. how will it come about ?, when ?, etc.

Well, I think that a smart face saving maneuver would actually be for DreamWorks to officially announce Blu and then with a little time….. Paramount.
I’m not saying that will happen, only that the above scenario is the way I would handle the situation.

Another question to the insiders with connectons to the stuidos:

Why do so few titles have more subtitels than maybe English, Spanish and maybe French?
You must be talking about the releases intended for North America where most people speak one of those three languages.

The releases in Europe have other languages.

3.Also, does paidgeek give you sample discs of new titles to check out? Don't name any titles, just curious if you get to see/use titles from SPHE before we get to buy them.
1. I don't remember if I have but, if not, it's one of the original PS3's from off the assembly line.

2. I assume you mean at home ?
I have an upstairs hometheater and a downstairs hometheater. The Q 006 is in one and another Sony 70" display ($$) is in the other (actually planted on a Q 006 stand). Both are superb.
I'm planning on getting a Kuro for the bedroom when I have the time.

3. He's been known to do that in the past. Give/Loan.....whatever.

Do you mean Dreamworks Animation or just Dreamworks?

Maxpower1987 has stated elsewhere that Warner has been pleased with the sales for titles such as "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind" and "Blade Runner" (I believe was the other title he mentioned), that they feel the install base for Blu-ray has reached the point to condone releasing these classic titles.... or something like that!

I wouldn't normally reply to you in the Insider's Thread, but I thought I'd slip this in while chaos still reigns supreme!

YAY CHAOS!

As for the actual subject of your message, they'd better at least port these titles over!! Every time I drag my girl-friend to the Blu-Ray aisle, she has to listen to a rant about how HD-DUD has "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory", "Casablanca", "Forbidden Planet" (Ultimate Collector's Edition, PLEASE!!), and "Excalibur" over and over. Spare the poor girl's ears, Warner Brothers! Release these titles on Blu!

Is it possible for you to say why you feel this would be the best way for it to happen?

No. Not that I have anything against him and if he wants he can post like the rest of us. But why would we care about the opinion a third rate journalist when we have real insiders.

If Dreamworks were announce that they are Blu-ray only, they would have split from Viacom/Paramount and then go over to NBC/Universal. I think the Dreamworks contract with Paramount expires in 2012, So thats not A choice for them right now. So, It is up to Viacom/Paramount to announce blu-ray only in there any god given time.

And I also think that Universal will be the one to make history before Paramount.

Mr. Vaughn said on avs that blu-ray has for all intents and purposes won. It doesn't seem to me like he is some irrational hd dvd supporter
why, I have seen that exact statement in many of the most irational posts. I find it to be the new useless catch phrase of red ants.

Before it was

" I am neutral" but BD sucks because......
now it appears to be

" BD has won" but it sucks because......

it is that BS they say so that when you point out that they are full of sh!t they can reply with "but I said BD won".

I swear there must be a play book for all those idiots.

Those are modern classics

Absolutely not. His status as an insider at AVS is still a joke and will ensure that none of the BD insiders care to post there anymore.

my guess is that he is talking about Viacom making the decision. I am guessing that he thinks DreamWorks would be a good first foot forward because it can be better PRed instead of "we where idiots to believe the BS and go with HD DVD in the first place" or "we accepted Toshiba's bribe but what use is it now that everyone has left this sinking ship" or any comment that ultimately means we made a bad decision 6 months ago. That starting with DW releasing some movies already on HD DVD it can look a bit less bad. For example it could be something like "Mister Blue and some other directors have repeatedly asked for their movies on BD, we decided to let them have their choice format, we will be Transforming their movie from HD DVD to BD"

If I was an Insider from Paramount I would let every know on the blu-ray forums that we are going blu-ray only in 24 hours ahead of time.

It is not us that deserve it the most ( well yes it is but for this point we will say not ), it is the people being suckered in by the fire sales on Toshiba cup holders lately and believing the " we are committed to supporting hd".
They are the ones who are getting shafted by all of this board room BS.

Not sure which DreamWorks PM was talking about, but Transformers is DreamWorks SKG and Shrek 3 is DreamWorks Animation. Paramount doesn't have much without either DreamWorks. Just FYI.

Not necessarily.
Viacom could *allow* them to make a public statement first… thus setting the table for the inevitable main meal (Paramount).

It would all go down easier that way.

I understand your point and WB. However, I would buy all of those movies so fast. I can wait though, since there are plenty of releases that I am buying in the upcoming months.
