Two things to add here. First, if any insider is going to try to talk them into releasing on Blu-ray, I think the recent switch by Joone of Digital Playground with the XXX title would be a good example to use with the UFC, especially after Joone originally trashed Blu-ray and now says he is releasing on Blu-ray because of Playstation fans (and with HD extras on Blu-ray, where the HD DVD got SD extras).

And second, if nobody on the inside is going to try to convince them, please let some of us know so we can work this angle as users. If Joone is telling the truth, then it sounds like users are the ones who convinced him to go neutral.

Warner can make up for these errors by announcing The Matrix and Batman Begins at CES.

You don't have to contact anyone regarding First Look because they are format neutral since September:

http://www.highdefdigest.com/tags/show/First_Look

They have 'King of California' and 'The Amateur' on the way in January and February!

paidgeek can you find out what Dave Vaughan stated regarding the PS3. Were 10 million units promised to be installed by now in the US alone?

Very much doubt it, because that would mean they were counting on outselling the PS2 from the get go, while being at a much steeper price point

PS2 sales after a year in the US:

Relating to dobyblue's question, I don't know if they were talking worldwide sales or just US, but a Fox Home Entertainment's worldwide president did make these comments long ago, alluding to a 10 million size userbase:

Quote:
The penetration of Blu-ray is going to be in the millions of households by early 2007, compared to less than 100,000 households for HD DVD. And, it will penetrate faster than DVD did — going from zero to 10 million households like a rocket.

Clearly they [FOX] don't understand the video game player demographic.

PS3 is picking up speed. Lower price and some good titles finally starting to appear. Combined with a much improved marketing campaign by sony.

Honestly I think Sony expected to simply sit back and ride the PS2 success.

You will notice that he says "in the millions" for early 2007 ,and then say that it'll reach 0 to 10 million "like a rocket".
Given that technically Blu Ray is in every PS3, he is right, it only took about a year to reach 10 million PS3s (world number).
Now if he meant US only, that was a wee bit optimistic given the original price tag and the competition from the Xbox 360 (with a whole year of lead) and the Wii...

Dave Vaughan this, Dave Vaughan that, for Gods sake he isn't even an insider yet he's now the HD-DVD cheerleader!

If he's truely neutral he'd post here, were he can be directly questioned by insiders etc, rather than getting a free ride on *** from a bunch of discredited HD-DVD fanboys.

To an insider or anyone in the know, what movies are in the making or are being discussed that you think will be BIG. A must have. I am into Sifi and CG when it comes to Blu-Ray purchases. A good action move may provoke me to make a buy also. I'm looking a year or so down the road.

Penton, any word if that could affect their "feelings" (hoping that they are indeed feeling "Blu" right now ) toward BR ?
This being said I was amazed (as in pleasantly surprised) by how fast they reacted to correct the problems.
if they are doing hd dvd internally and outsourcing blu-ray, how are hd dvds getting put into blu-ray boxes?

Sorry for an off topic post, but the insiders earlier commented that.

1. WB alone knows and controls their own timeline.
2. There is nothing to indicate WB will announce in CES or immediately after CES.
3. The dots today points to something being done after Q4'07 (perhaps with Jan '08) results tabulated and considered.
4. It's not only meaningless to write or otherwise irritate WB or force their hand, it's likely harmful. They must arrive at their own decision themselves.

That's about it from what is known and what articles on HDM format war are discussing ot there.

I think further discussion is, at best, just a way to kill time on a slow day.

+1 on the below.

On another topic: Insiders/People In-The-Know: can you tell us what players might be announced at CES?

Cool! Thanks for doing the research. I guess it's up to us to contact them and see why this is only coming to DuD then.

Default Not really a question...

Hey insiders,
looks like the official BDA site may have been hacked. If one of you knows who to contact to get it fixed, you might want to do that ASAP.

Check out the thread about it

KJack, what does your sig mean? Is that devices you have worked on or devices that use chips from your company, or just whose working on what. I see a lot of companies that don't have any players released.

Thanks
