Penton-Man has no idea what he is talking about. He should take a lesson from Paidgeek and learn about class, which he (PM) has none of.

And by the way, I have never considered myself an insider and I have said so many times. AVS made me one because it would allow me to respond in their Insiders thread within their guidelines.

I guess I'm not getting "inside" information and am able to "predict" the Neilson ratio's perfectly every single week. Anyone know where I can buy some lottery tickets, because I sure seem to have a hidden talent that I never knew I had!

If I was a shill for BD, like Scott Hedrick or a certain other "blogger" who put a BD Christmas card on their website
, I bet I would be Penton-Man's best friend.

Everything I have posted has been verified by multiple sources (yields and manufacturing) or comes from a source who is as solid as they come (VS numbers). You can choose to believe what I am saying or not, but I have no personal stake in which way this format war comes out, unlike Penton-Man.
Hah!!! Bill Hunt got under that guy's skin, huh?

Because I’m going to give you an update on those negotiations now --right here.
I think it’s obvious we all want to see some “back” which is why I recommended the previous outfit to her in the designated pose.
Seems the suicide model has some sort of morals clause in her contract – which she thinks precludes her from the *bending over, black thigh highs and stiletto heels look*.
I don’t know how the hell a punk rocker could ever have a *morals clause* written in as part of her contract with her modeling agency and me thinks she is fibbing about it- just because she doesn’t want to give in to our whims.
So, I’ve proposed a black chaps bending over photo shoot ala Jessica Alba.

We are deadlocked on this point until she finds the article of clothing requested…..or a satisfactory substitute.
A morals clause...a clause...some back...someone's coming back using an escape clause...

PARAMOUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hell he’s lucky they have internet service and phone lines between PR people in LA County and distant Cali locations like Vacaville.

P.S.
And AVS "made" him an Insider because they have no major Hollywood studio insiders in attendance there, so a pseudo studio insider is better than nothing, I guess.
My thoughts exactly

Ya know, I can deal with anybody who wants to have a reasoned debate on the facts regarding this "war", but in my limited dealings with Vaughn on this site, this guy is a pure two-faced, assclown. His postings/opinions are clearly biased, despite his protestations that he is neutral; and his postings all scream out that he is someone desperately in need of attention or feeling that he is of some importance in this format battle.

What a pathetic, little, little, man. I am not generally one to rip someone, whether in person or on a forum; but this POS just pisses me off.

/end rant
//will never post about this little man again.

There are a few problems with Vaughn:
1.)he seems like a nice guy, but he always seems to go just one step too far, like he did above.
2.)he seems to take this stuff a little personally
3.)he has inside sources but is not an insider, fine. But the issue is that none of the knowledge is his own then. So if it's incorrect, he's not really "responsible".
4.)if he has no first hand inside information of his own, how can he debate it? He doesn't know the context, biases, follow up questions people might ask in a debate. It's hard to defend a piece of information that you are "given", so he's actually putting himself in a no-win situation.

Finally, I've noticed he's been saying that the Warner sales between Blu and HD DVD is closer than people would think. This is now the new mantra for HD DVDers on the web (I guess it gives them hope). But there are two things to take into consideration:
1.)if most of the titles aren't moving big numbers, then no business person in their right mind is going to take a bunch of small volume titles and say, "Gee, titles X, Y, & Z each sold 11,500 on Blu Ray and 11,000 on HD DVD...the format war must be closer than we thought." More likely, they'll be looking at day and date releases that move the larger number of copies.

2.)Another thing to consider is that in the 4Q, Blu Ray fans have had more "blockbuster" titles to buy. Naturally, their money is going to be spread out over more Blu-Rays. Therefore, more recently, there has been a dilutive effect. Bottom line, WB is of course going to have a larger piece of the HD DVD market than they do on the Blu market. You can check the math with some simple numbers if you're so inclined.

Let me give you something else to chew on over the Holiday season which includes Dec. 25 (Christmas), Dec. 26 (beginning of Kwanzaa), etc., etc.

If things go according to planned, there may be some other interesting news (other than WB exclusivity) at the upcoming CES, which often times in the past has been a letdown.

Don’t ask for any hints and nobody bother PMing me about it.
Hmmmmmmmm.... one can only hope.

Since this is a guessing game, other than Warner going Blue, my guess is Toshiba will see the handwriting on the wall and reach a compromise with Blu-ray. For the "transition period" Toshiba will sell dual function players (Blu-ray / HD-DVD). Also both Universal and Paramount will be released from their exclusive status and start producing Blu-ray movies.

Of course Amir will see this as a win for Microsoft and write thousands of entries on AVS how he singlehandedly ended the format war!

Everyone have a happy holiday!!!

Is CES an event where studios might reveal upcoming releases? I'm not sure, as I know it's primarily an electronics show. But if so, perhaps its a big catalog announcement like Star Wars.

But that's probably a long shot. Analyzing Penton's message, the mention of 25 and 26 seems awkward. Might be a code in there.

Also loved how "other than WB exclusivity" was thrown out there as if a given. It'd be nice if we could take it as such.

Thank you, Penton-Man, for helping us see through the FUD campaigns organized by D.V. and his 'master,' A-man.
