^^'ll back this up. I was a little confused by OokieSpookie's post, as I don't recall Spartan doing any of that. HD NOW (Rdjam), however, is a repeat offender.

Nah, the Spurs with a dodgy defense in London, UK, sorry Maxpower, you a great insider, but I a Man Utd fan, although we took a beating off West Ham, so who am I to talk about this weekend. But I prefer Spurs to Arsenal, who I detest, so we have something in common. Lets hope the Blu-ray defense, holds up to a good fight, and wins this thing within the 90 minutes.

You are correct, my bad I was thinking the wrong rumor.
It was :

Rumors have been circulating for a while now, but it seems that Warner Bros. is one step closer to going HD DVD exclusive. A source from Weinstein has informed me that the HD DVD group mentioned this in their last meeting in hopes to sway their upcoming neutral announcement. Warner Bros. is the number one provider of high definition discs so far, and ditching the Blu-ray format would be the last nail in the coffin for Blu-ray. Expect an announcement within the next month.
Paramount has shown that supporting one format can still create many sales with their number one high def disc ever 'Transformers", and current success "Shrek The Third."
Sadly the link is now dead though.

Relax. And aren't you the same guy who was over at AVREV and then came over and posted in this Insider's Thread about 'Lotus' saying WB was a done deal to go HD DVD, etc, etc

Bottom line, YOU have no right to, in bold and CAPS, tell people where to post when I believe you've done the same thing in this thread in the past.
Asking insiders to confirm whether or not Disney has authored any 51GB test HD DVD discs is... at the very least... a question directed to the insiders (and one that was never directly answered I might add... indicating that it's possible that Disney has indeed authored such discs, for whatever reason).

Debate back/forth with other members that goes on page after page about what would happen if WB would go HD DVD exclusive (when another thread already exists for that topic) is a different matter.

to the insiders:

Do you know if MS has approached any studios and offered cash in return for exclusive download rights WITHOUT mentioning HD DVD?

Related: Universal has talked a good game about the future of downloads. Do they actually believe HD media has little future? Or rather, are they, or any studio, expecting large revenue streams in the future from HD downloads? Any downloads?

Thanks

Oh please, as far as I'm concerned, it's all "chicken little" type posts and discussion about WB, Disney and TL51 means they're going nuetral, etc, etc. There is no distinction as the common denominator of all the posts is, "ZOMG, Penton and Max I read on board <insert the usual red ant stronghold> and could you please calm my nerves that BD is going to win."

While I don't disagree that the Insiders Thread strays at times, you have no right to tell people where they can and cannot post.

The fact of the matter is that you just have to deal with:
1.)this is not AVS, things are a little more loose here
2.)The Insiders are busy preparing for CES, so the lack of responses is causing other discussions to take place in this thread in the meantime

I for one will be happy when paidgeek and kjack are back, the new SCEA insider joins, the "Fox Executive" person hopefully starts talking, and Penton and Max return 100%...all the other BS and chicken little stuff will hopefully go away then.

Sounds like we basically agree.

Hey, when does CES officially begin?

Agreed. Officially I think it's 1 week from today. I think there are pre-CES meetings, speeches, and press events that start the Sunday before.

One good thing if this latest MS, Tosh, WB, & Universal meeting late last week truly occurred is that it could mean something BIG happens at CES. I didn't think anything big would happen, but I'm not so sure now...

I'll be glad once CES is over. All of the Insiders will hopefully be back here, and we'll have some good news to discuss in the other threads.

In the meantime, I highly recommend that everyone stop engaging the FUD-sters on other sites. It spills over to this site, and it's dragging us down.

I agree, I can't wait till CES is over & done with. Also Happy New Year's to all the insiders here at Blu-Ray.com and all the members as well. Let it be a Blu year in 2008

Now, if you really want to impress me, you'll drop a hint about "Mask of Zorro" possibly making it in 2008. Mask of Zorro is the superior movie,

No need to answer, but I'll just comment that I get the above impression and it is reassuring

while we've seen other insiders "re-assigned" in their real world positions it seems that your biggest worry is being banned from "neutral" forums.
Hehe,
I have no worries about being “banned” from any forum, it would simply give more time to my private personal life.

People should not discount the influence of the retailers, i.e. how disgusted they are with the format war because they are a very powerful group that can sway even the content providers into doing the right thing. They’re getting pretty fed up with standing on the sidelines and watching two high-def formats taking up valuable shelf space.....esp. when one is dominating.

Im very surprised they would be that pissed right now, most places dont allow much room to either. I guess the fact they have to share double the space which takes away from something else is the point.

I really hope based off what you are saying some of the more powerful retailers take some serious ACTION in the 1st Quarter of 2008. When I went into Best Buy a couple days back, even my girlfriend pointed out that it looks like HD-DVD is going down the tubes, BD is dominating.

I'm hopeing this is a hint of things to come.....
As long as C.C. and BB agree on which to carry and not split it between the two.

Well it does make sense. When Harry Potter came out, retailers had 12 SKU's to carry and stock just between the HD formats. Add in SD DVD and that's 18 SKU's for ALL Harry Potter movies just to cover all "3" formats. I'm sure they would like to cut that number down a bit and make room for other movies or other products. And it's obviously affecting Warner now too with all their screw ups trying to ship that many SKU's at once.

It's not just a question of space. The retailers also have to spend more simply buying copies on both formats. The studios don't give the discs to the retailers for free.
