I wonder if he wears different costumes when hes posting on different forums under different usernames?

Maybe he thinks hes some sort of HD DVD superhero?

I hope everyone's New Year's resolution is to enjoy the insider's thread tonight, but as of the New Year to make your best effort to keep this thread for questions to insiders only.

We need another Insider feedback thread.

I really enjoy this site for its info and its insiders and always recommend it to family, friends and people I meet that show interest in HDM.

I am currently working on a friend who is a M$ employee just getting into HDM. We've had our conversations about Blu ray vs. HD DVD and he has sent me threads from AVSForum (you guessed it, Amir quotes...he doesn't know him personally...they were sent to him from a co-worker). Long story short...I had him and some other friends over for some gaming on my PS3 (COD4...gaming at his place was met twice with his XBOX 360 crashing on many occasions he was so embarrased), and then showed off some Blu ray movies. Anyways, he asked to borrow some movies (he has a dual combo PC drive).

Thanks Insiders! Keep up the great work!
Maybe you can find out from your friend what Amir now does for Microsoft after his old job was reorganized out of existence. Based upon all the time he has spends on the internet with his postings he must be the official Microsoft FUDmaster. And that's saying a lot since their whole organization seems to be all about FUD.

Microsoft especially likes to say when they are under threat of antitrust actions that it will hamper their ability to innovate. Well the only thing they seem it innovate is FUD. Just take a look at what Microsoft tried to do to LINUX (using SCO as a shill) as an example. Of course they are now doing the same thing with Toshiba as their shill. I hope someday Toshiba wakes up and realizes they have been used and manipulated by Microsoft.

Back to the original topic at hand:

I had a conversation with someone who I regularly talk about the format war with who does read these boards and he mentioned this:

Isnt it quite possible that Warner is using the HD-DVD camps desperation to get the best possible offer from bluray?

Hopefully shortly after the New Year DVD-HD will have lost the format war and these second guessing questions will disappear.

Formal edict;

From this point forward, any questions about WB and their status shall be unapproved unless it contains new information. Continual discussions of will they or won't they simply don't belong, nor the reasons behind one way or the other. There are other threads far better suited to this endeavour for those that wish to disc it.

Extras cost a lot to make with variable returns, but with user created content you really just need to provide the infrastructure and other people will do the rest. Go the social networking route, have people vote on the best subs/dubs/edit whatever. You could do it using micropayments, subscription, give rewards to the most rated/downloaded etc. There's a lot of ways you can profit off of it.
I wholeheartedly second this. I was going to bring up rifftrax several times before since I'm a huge fan, but I figured I'd wait until the dust settles from this stupid format war (two pages today just about another forum??). It wouldn't be too hard to implement, especially on the ps3, all that would have to be done is to work on an open standard for timing/sync. I've noticed that Sony, at least the PS3 arm anyway, is all about user-created content these days.

And yes, getting users involved like that is the absolute best way to compete with Youtube. You'll have people going nuts to buy random catalog titles just so they can add on some crazy soundtrack.

Here is a question for an Insider: I thought that back when Paramount was bought out, Warner was courted with money then but they declined it to stay neutral and decide on merits (disc sales). Why all of a sudden are we hearing posts from you guys and The Digital Bits and other sources that Warner is now suddenly considering and being offered large sums of money from both sides? I thought that wasn't really an option for them...which means if that truly is the case, consumers feel pretty helpless at this point and buying frenzies aren't really doing anything?

Have they changed their stance, or is this more of a "we'll go Blu-ray because it leads in sales and makes the most sense, but we might as well milk the BDA for as much money possible while we're at it" kind of thing.

You know, I just may ask him what group Amir is now in. Actually, I used to work onsite at M$ as a vendor and do believe you can use the Microsoft website to do an external employee search...at least you used to be able to do that.

PM me a couple of pics of the poses you have in mind – I’m serious.

I really think that the dirty blonde model that I mentioned before will be getting way too much face time visa-vee some home theater enthusiasts Blu-rays and also probably on some showroom floors (if they run those as promotions) for the picture quality of Blu-ray.

You can wear anything at all for the samples, I still don’t have a handle on the details of your photo shoot for us.
The only prop you need is a chair or couch.

Well you can trust us “guys”, hell I even brought bad news to Blu-ray folks about the Paramount deal because I knew that Nikki was about to break it on the internet the next day. The AVS reds just never appreciated it.....or else thought it was some ruse.

But, you’ll have to tell me exactly what Bill over at Digital Bits posted because even though it is a very, very worthwhile place to read and visit (he has been a home theater and film aficionado a long time before this format war started), I just don’t have the bloody time to read him. So please at least post a link or something as to what you are referring to.

Other sources? – I would go by their track record as to their credibility, no matter what their affiliation, online “credentials”, etc.

So tell me what Bill said while I go to my PM box to clean up things there.
