Funny how you should mention him in a film. This character from Golden Eye comes to mind:

Especially with the great upconverters we have available now too. There's some new films that I bet only true videophiles could really pick apart and tell a huge difference between a Blu-ray disc and a great upconvert. I'd be curious to hear from Insider's on studios long term goals for the format even if it wins and there is only one format.
I have an excellent upconverter. I guarantee I could pick out the DVD every time easily

Penton, or any other insider, I seen this link: http://www.thedigitalbits.com/articl...ial010108.html posted on The Digital Bits earlier.

Is this what you were referring to about shifts from retailers? This seems to paint a very Blu picture in the very near future...

And like Freddy, he's just a bad dream... once you realize that - you can twist him into a pretzel...

Folks, I know we are bored, what with a dearth of news and many insiders busy before CES or still on holiday, but sometimes "no posts" is better than clutter.

The endless castigations and comic art aimed against others does not represent us well, serving only to lower us to the level of other (red) forums we decry.

The consequences of my little stint on AVS have been made perfectly clear, I will no longer be allowed to post there until further notice and I will be serving a two day posting ban over here imposed by work.

I suppose all actions have their consequences...
Max, thanks for all of the time and support you've provided to the blu community ... we'll be waiting for you when you return. No need to answer this, but I'll throw this out for food for thought.

Although you're a confirmed insider your identity is hidden from the public community and the AVS thread was quickly squashed by the mods over at AVS. I can't but wonder what your employer is afraid of or better yet what does AVS, Amir, or MS have against them that they have such concern and take such drastic action? Is there a rat over at AVS that cried and told on you to your employer?

Well, we just tried the first commercially released Profile 1.1 movie in all the BD players that use our chip....

They all played the main movie just fine without the crashing, lock-ups, turning to bricks, etc. that a few folks predicted would happen....

Though I tried to cancel my order before it shipped, I was too late, and I received some Blu-ray movies today (including "War"). I am assuming this is the title you are referring to (considering it was released one day earlier that RE3)?

Just out of curiosity, did everyone break up into groups to watch the film on different players, or did you watch the film multiple times in a group, or did you just try watching small parts of the film on each individual player?

If you do a search through this thread, David Boulet recently posted a question about the PS3's handling of 1.1 content - do the players you've tested on do the same thing? Any idea if this problem is title specific?

paidgeek, why wasn't this a day and date release like Shakira's BD?

Was it because the source video is not in HD or SonyBMG did not have the time to encode in HD? *puts US$5 in the coffer*
