Besides, they take advantage of the situation by putting me and my employer in bad light all the time (the words Microsoft and a-man are used more than any other names I am sure). Yet, by hiding their identity, they don’t give a chance for people to question their bias. What if I told you that Penton works for Sony or is a hairdresser who hears conversations from his customers and repeats them. Would you put equal weight to what he says in both cases?
HA HA!!!! They Just blew your cover Penton, your Amir's hairdresser lol

i don't know, we are reading too far into this i think,

Later.
Ok...

kjack: If you had to estimate, what would you say is the long term % of players in the market that will be 1.0 vs 1.1 vs 2.0. Or put another way, even though 2.0 is optional, is there any reason to think that CEs won't eventually produce the majority of their players to be 2.0?

talkstr8t: First off, you are to be commended for dealing with the "stoopid" people trying to trip you up on the 'other' forums. You must be a glutton for punishment or something. Ok, my question to you is, in 2008, do you expect the majority of titles to be BD-Live (or "enhanced interactivity titles"), or will those be more like the super special editions for significant titles only?

Maybe the new customer is the long rumored Weinstein thing.

I agree, I think he would have coded in color himself if he wanted anything to be inferred.

Question for Talkstr8t while you're visiting:

I'm sure everyone's got aces up their sleeves for CES, but without revealing anything specific, on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being least interesting to 10 being most interesting, how important would you say CES will be this year to the format war, based on what you are personally aware of?

Again, not asking for details - but CES was mega-hyped last year, and the only major news to come out of it was the news that didn't come from it - specifically Universal's temporary hiatus (and Fox's subsequent disappearance on similar grounds).

Probably just messin with us!

But if that was a lady, well she already has highlights so I don't think that would be the one in question.

Probably a damsel in distress wanting to escape a loathsome beast's deadly claws!

And the other's probably been only a red head since way back and finally wants to spice it up a bit!
But of course will she want highlights when evryone else might be sporting solid colors? She might find it no longer fashionable and just go with the "in" crowd!

+1 to this. Great question that doesn't ask for specifics. Last year's CES was a whole lot of absolutely nothing. Let's hope this year isn't the same.

Probably a meaningless comment, but let's try it:

Highlights is adding a color to hair, and the only lady I know of is Kelly Avery @ Paramount, so I guess she is thinking about adding some Blu to her current "do".

The new customer in question is the new guy @ Warner, which was pretty much red before and is looking to go Blu this time around.

How did I do Penton?

The highlight is the spotlight that's on the fat lady, cause when the new customer comes on board, she'll start singing. :-)

(And yeah, I agree that PentonMan wasn't alluding to something in his post.)

I have come to the conclusion that Amir thrives on controversy. He is just a psychotic immature little wimp that wants attention. He may be ready for retirement but he acts as a five year old throwing a temper tantrum. I suggest we do not feed his ego by talking about him any more. Since Microsoft took his job away he has even become even more psychotic. (And if we do discuss him it should be as "He who should not be named"

This crosses the line from funny/improbable, to insane. If Penton actually followed that logic in dropping a hint, he might be a psychopath. I prefer to think our lead insider is not a psychopath.

Penton's hard at work! And there are customers to be served! It's pretty much the only time I get at what he's trying to say!

I hope...

At least Penton can Give Amir some good advice on how to cover up those gray hairs he's been developing in abundance of late...

Well. it was a nice try, but you did realise that no insider would ever answer it?!

0 - 10 indeed. Bloody cheek.

Hmm. wonder what would happen if Talk said 8.2? Some wild speculation you think? Or how about 3.4 - more wild speculation. And so it goes..

Ok, I'm ashamed, but I can't stop myself...

Talk, in that case, would you consider joining mystik's photo shoot or do you insist on honoring the talkstr8t moniker?

Edit: Come to think of it, since Penton is always touting your red-ant-squashing shoe size, I might want to take a pass on that photo shoot after all (unless you're a very tech-savvy Uma Thurman).

I wasn't asked, but I think by late this year most new models will be 2.0; the raw cost differential between 1.1 and 2.0 is too small to worry about given the potential which 2.0 provides.

Not necessarily "super special editions", but I think BD-Live will be reserved for new bigger box office releases and the occasional catalog blockbuster re-release. Movies which aren't particularly distinguished (i.e. run-of-the-mill comedies) probably won't get a BD-Live treatment, other than perhaps some sort of studio-specific feature for providing updated trailers, registering loyalty, accessing related blogs, or such, which could be applied to most or all of a studio's titles without requiring authoring specific to a given movie.

Penton (or any other Insders who may know), will a certain group of halflings be making an appearance at CES? Also, will theirs be an "extended" visit?
